SPECIAL REPORT FROM THE GAZETTE ONLINE: Car Fire Closes Route 347 By JB At about 3:20 PM on Sunday, July 27, 2003, a black SUV hit a telephone/electric pole bring down two primary wires across from Browns Road Park on Route 347. Route 347 was closed Sunday, after the down power lines blocked the road. The road was closed in both directions for over an hour between Gibbs Pond Road and Browns Road. Cars heading westbound was forced to turn onto Browns Road and detoured around or to make a u-turn back onto Route 347 eastbound. Route 347 was completely closed to anyone on Browns Road. Cars heading eastbound on Route 347 were forced in both directions on Gibbs Pond Road to detour around or to make a u-turn back onto Route 347 westbound. "...Police were running in with their small fire extinguishers, while waiting for fire crews to arrive..." Said one witness, who later reported to use. The black SUV was carrying only the driver. The drivers identity or conduction is yet unknown.
