New York City-the city that never sleeps
You know, I thought I had many more pictures of New York. I guess it's so close and I go so often that I don't bother to take pictures. As you can see, most of these pictures are biology-related. I guess that's the bio-nerd in me coming out!
To the left is me with my friend Josh Schrier having a couple beers at the Firehouse restaurant. Josh is a cool guy-he was my undergrad research partner in the lab in the summer of '98. We had lots of fun, even though I figured out that summer that I didn't want to be in grad school. We would look up stupid stuff on the Web while our HPLC was running, play chess in front of the HPLC, make animal noises in the lab at weird hours, and play D&D at the dorm where the summer undergrads were staying! Josh is one cool guy, and he's currently out at Berkeley getting a Ph.D in chemistry. I guess I didn't scare him away from grad school, as much as I tried! Josh took several of these pictures, including the one at the left of the lobby of the Empire State Building. We were too lazy to wait in line to go up to the observatory, so we left, but Josh took this picture anyway! Most of these pictures were taken in October 1998 during a trip into the City with Josh.
Below is a picture of the outside of the American Museum of Natural History I took from Central Park.
Above is the fossil of Lucy, the earliest discovered human ancestor. This was one of the most important fossils ever discovered. Josh took this picture. Below is a picture of a dinosaur skeleton, also taken by Josh(I think, I'm not sure about this one.)
To the left is a picture of seals from the Central Park Zoo. Unlike all the other pictures on this page, this one was not taken with Josh present. Maybe I shouldn't have put this one in, I could have called this page the "Josh page." Sorry Josh. Anyway, I took this picture this spring on a trip into the City with my friend Stephanie Dibble(a UCONN classmate and also a rapidly improving tennis player!).
Directly below is a picture of the Museum of Modern Art(MoMA). To the right is a Warhol piece found in the museum.
To the left is a picture of the high altar at St. Patrick's Cathederal.
To the left are two pictures from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The top is a European sculpture garden and the bottom is an Egyptian temple that was brought over one brick at a time.
