Washington, DC-The Nation's Capital
DC is a great place-tons of museums, monuments, history, etc. The best part is that most of it is free!
To the left is a picture of the Washington Monument taken from the National Mall.

To the right is a display of the ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. This display is in the
Smithsonian's Museum of American History.
Above is the Hope Diamond, apparently the largest diamond ever found. It is on display at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History.
To the left are 3 World War II fighter planes on display at the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum.. Being the World War II plane buff that I am(mostly from playing computer games), I was really interested in seeing these.

The top is the German Me-262, probably the best fighter built in the war. Unfortunately for the Germans, Hitler delayed production and the Me-262 was not produced until late in the war when the air war was already lost.

The middle picture is an RAF Spitfire and the bottom picture is a German Me-109. These two fighters were mainstays throughout the war.
To the left is a picture of the original Wright Brothers' plane(also from the Air and Space Museum)-the first flight in history!
While I was in DC, I was able to attend Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. To the left are below are pictures outside the church.
To the left is a picture of the main stained glass window and organ from the inside(directly below the picture of the exterior view).
Above is one of the small chapels in the Basilica dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. To the right is a view of the high altar and some of the surrounding artwork on the walls and ceiling.
Finally, to the left are two pictures from the National Zoo. Above is a picture of a gorilla and below is a picture of a hippo.
