Charlottesville, VA
Charlottesville, VA is known for being the home of two presidents-Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe. I visited both Monticello(Jefferson's home) and Ash Lawn(Monroe's home). Monticello was much larger than Ash Lawn. Jefferson was a rich man.  Offical Monticello website
To the left is a view of the outside of Monticello. To the bottom is a view of the outside of Ash Lawn. Unfortunately, I could not take any pictures inside either museum. From the pictures, though, it is quite obvious that Monticello is much more extravagant than Ash Lawn.
Above is the foundry, the only surviving original structure on Mulberry Row(where Jefferson's slaves lived and worked)  in Monticello. It was a woodworking shop run by slaves.

To the top right is the Monticello vegetable garden growing the same crops that Jefferson himself grew. Jefferson was known to try to grow all sorts of plants-he saw the discovery of a useful plant as the most important contribution one could make to society.

To the bottom right is Thomas Jefferson's grave. His descendants own the property and many of his descendants are buried here.
