Aliens!
Most of the aliens in the Quasar 169 series are named for signs of the Zodiac. Language differences made some of the native names difficult to recall, and as humans have a knack for coming up with easy-to-remember nicknames for everything (speedbumps? turtle-heads, butt-heads? Oh! KLINGONS! Right!), it was decided early on that all new visiting species would be given nicknames based upon Zodiac signs and well-known Earth myths and legends. Is it easier to recall that the first extraterrestrial visitors were called Scheesums (no one's sure of the spelling, but it sounds mostly like that), or Librans? Tall, of ambiguous gender, slight of build, with smooth, short coats of fur, but otherwise very human-looking, these aliens are known for their sense of fairness and equality. Librans is a lot easier to remember and certainly seems to fit their general character. They have yet to rename the Oasnerollians or Geoffery's Voa yet...
