Shaun's thoughts on definitive answers

The following does not necessarily reflect my opinions and I accept no responsibility for it, especially the part about women and pets!!!! Dion.

Not too long ago one definitive was that the earth was flat, that the sun revolved around the earth and that women were there simply for men to enjoy.

What a shocker it was to the pundits of the era to realise it was not so. What a headache to modern man that the ancestors thought it prudent to educate the woman. I mean, could they not have taught their pets new tricks instead. They screwed it up for all of us guys.

What was it that changed the thinking of the future generations? It happened over a period of time, gave the people time to accept the small changes in the equation. These changes were absorbed by society, little by little. Hell, imagine if one had dumped all our modern day definitives on their laps in one go. Heresy, you say. The devils work, you say. " Burn the bastard", you hear.

What has taken us centuries to discover, we cram into our offspring in twelve short years of education. So, you would expect some differences in the various forms of education. If an idea as your student's, about the moon etc. does not conform to the thinking of the day, well, we all think it is cute and laugh. For example, child is nine years old in 1940. He tells his parents he wants to walk on the moon, " Aaah, cute. Yes dear Neil, yes."

See what I'm getting at?

Your web page is great. When I need some peace I go there and read your articles. They really are good.
