I love you

The following essay on the topic "Is giving better than receiving?" was written by one of my Grade 5 students and I thought it was worth sharing.

I have never heard my mother tell me "I love you." These three words are the best and are more important than my life. Everyday when I went home I always hope that my mother can tell me "I love you," but it doesn't happen. Sometimes I will ask my mother why she never tells me that she loves me. She says, "You know that I love you and why do I have to say?" I felt very sad. I think I just wish she can tell me, but she doesn't believe me.

Today when I went to school, my mother finally said to me "I love you." That time I felt very happy and I hugged my mother. That was the first time my mother said, "I love you" to me. This night I will dream that I am an angel and can fly to the sky, because I am happy like an angel.
