DREAM FAIRY

A little fairy comes at night, Her eyes are blue, her hair is brown, With silver spots upon her wings, And from the moon she flutters down. She has a little silver wand, And when a good child goes to bed, She waves her hand from right to left, And makes a circle round its head. And then it dreams of pleasant things, Of fountains filled with fairy fish, And trees that bear delicious fruit, And bow their branches at a wish. When the first baby laughed for the first time, The laugh broke into a thousand pieces and they all went skipping about, And that was the beginning of fairies.

(Sir James Matthews Barrie (1860-1937)

Fairie: A mythical being of folklore, and romance, having diminutive human form and magic powers.

A real Fairie may not always have wings, they Possess magic, the correct name being Fairie glamour.

Fairies hold the powers of levitation, invisibility, and can cause fog, and tempests.

Fairies, they may be male, or female, they have feelings, they can fall in love, they eat, they drink, they enjoy dancing, and music, and are protective of their children.

Fairies are often seen in places of mystical beauty, or dancing within Fairie rings.

It is said that fairies use enchantment, to draw humans into their realm, such as Fairie music, or dancing.

Fairies also used Fairie glamour, in their food. if any human were to partake of their food or drink, they would forever be trapped within the Fairie realm, never again to see their family or friends.

I'D LOVE TO BE A FAIRY'S CHILD

(Robert Graves)

Children born of fairy stock Never need for shirt or frock, Never want for food or fire, Always get their heart's desire: Jingle pockets full of gold, Marry when they're seven years old. Every fairy child may keep Two strong ponies and ten sheep; All have houses, each his own, Built of brick or granite stone; They live on cherries, they run wild -- I'd love to be a fairy's child

ENCHANTED TULIPS

(Ernest Thompson Seton)

Tulips pink and tulips red, sweeter than a flower bed! Tell me mommy, please do say why your tulips look so gay, Why they smell so sweet, and why they bloom on when others die? -- "By the fairies' magic power do my tulips always flower, By the fairies' magic spell do they give so sweet a smell! Tulips, tulips, pink and white, fill the fairies with delight! -- "Fairy women, fairy men, seek my tulips from the glen; Midnight come, they may be heard singing sweet as any bird, Singing their wee babes to rest in the tulips they love best!"
