1st Quarter
Review of scientific principles
Review of basic human needs and communications
Response to emergencies/ CPR re-certification
Infection control/universal precautions/body mechanics/ safety measures
Work readiness skills
Review of vital signs, height and weight measurements
Legal and ethical issues
2nd Quarter:
Care of the terminal patient including concepts of hospice care, death and dying
Principles of nutrition and fluid balance
Care of the surgical patient
Hazards of immobility
Body systems and related care procedures including Integumentary, Pulmonary, Cardiac, Musculoskeletal, Nervous, Gastrointestinal, renal and Reproductive systems
