Makers of Allan Block

Spring 2002 Jim Miller, Editor 262-246-5050

New Product Information!

There's a lot that's new for 2002. In addition to the grey, buff, and chocolate colors we have always made, we are introducing two new blended colors. Now available are a grey/charcoal blend and a buff/chocolate blend. There will soon be a red/charcoal blend available as well.

Blended colors have been the hot thing on the market the past few years and we expect these new colors to take off right away. More than any single comment I hear from homeowners is that they want a different look. Homeowners want a wall that is unique and even commercial projects are becoming increasingly attuned to aesthetics.

Speaking of commercial projects, we will now also offer Allan Block in the three-way split so often seen in industrial and commercial specs. Frequently the project specs for a job call for "tri-faced" or "tri-planer" block, and now we have it available. Expect to see more and more commercial jobs done in Allan Block.

Marketing 2002

Look for more ads in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel this year. Last year we were able to refer tens of thousands of dollars worth of business to certified contractors. That's part of our pledge to you when you become certified - referrals from advertising will go only to certified contractors. If you're not certified, call today. We will do one more certification class before summer.

Find yourself on Highway 41/45 north of Milwaukee? Look for our Allan Block billboard. It will feature the great looking Ashlar Blend wall that Tim Schmitt built in Pewaukee. Tim's wall has also been featured in two national advertising publications. Nice job Tim!

Tune your radio into 620AM WTMJ in Milwaukee. You'll hear the latest radio ads for Allan Block. This is a new format for us, so please let us know what you think of our (your) new spots.

For you Madison area installers - we didn't forget about you. Look for ads in the Madison area newspapers and check out our listing in the Madison Yellow Pages under "Retaining Walls."

Tricks of the Trade

Jazz up those walls! Allan Block makes it easy for you to get a custom look without adding a lot of expense to the wall - in fact without adding any expense. You can dress up a plain grey wall with black caps or with blended grey corners and caps. How about red caps? A buff wall with chocolate caps and corners is a great look as well.

The simple single course Ashlar blend wall that was featured in last quarter's Newsletter is another way to offer something really different and unique. Mix and match those colors and sizes for a captivating wall. A little hesitant to venture into color matching? Just ask me, that's what I'm here for. I can tell you what colors will complement a house and what colors or combinations to stay away from and why.
