| CIA is a fun little skate spot that has something for everyone. I love nothing more than to shred up a skatepark but when I want to skate street I would have to say CIA is the first spot to skate. CIA has a large variety of gaps, loading docks, grind ledges, double sets, and hand rails. CIA was a Wachovia Research Center that was sold to another company in the University Area Tech Park. 90% of the time we skated CIA we got no hastle from cops or security because no one worked but now since it was sold and being reopened it is no longer skateable. Let me tell you about the gaps, stairs, and grind ledges up in the front of the building. There are two giant parking lot drop offs with a sloping hill of pine straw going down to the lower parking lot. These gaps have a 4-5" curb infront of them and are about 5-6' high. Team rider Zak Metzker tears these up all the time back to back. Next to the gaps there are 2 narrow double 3 stairs with a hagard crack infront of the top step. If you can make it past the crack you will dominate! Wraping around the front of CIA is a very wide double set (3 then a 2). on the sides of the double set is yet anouther double set (3 then a 2) with a flat hubba ledge that goes out along the side of the double set. This double set starts out knee high and ends about 4' high. There is a kinked handrail that goes down the double set. The last portion of the rail is too short and steep to slide so your best bet is to go fast enough to where you can air over the last section of the rail. All around the front area are a series of ledges most of them are about a foot high but a few others go from 1' high to at least 4' high, and they are all perfect for both skate boarding and aggressive inline. The back of the building has loading docks that rage from 3' to 4' high. The 3' ledge has a slick layer of paint on the riding surface. So if you turn into the ledge alot your bustin ass on an unexpected 4 wheel power slide. Now the 4' ledge is nothing but perfect. It has a great approach to it and it's has no slick paint on it. If you want to get alot of filming done in 1 day this spot is the place to be. I give CIA two thumbs way up! |
