When people hear the words montreal and bmx, they tend to think of the olympic stadium, the taz, and a bunch of guys hitting a box jump all day. Well that may have been the case five years ago, but since then much has changed; Montreal riders do not have the taz anymore, this has made a big impact on the riders because back in the taz days everyone was progressing quickly, and when it got torn down, montreal riders felt it hit the ground, as our riding suffered because of it. Well maybe not suffered, but definetely changed greatly. The riders had to take the streets and some (less lazy ones) actually began digging trails in montreal wich have gotten better and better every year" Montreal is a very spread out city, but it has alot to offer. There are new street spots going up everyday. I would like to say i know every good spot in montreal but i don't. I know about 75% of montreals street riding but there are still those outskirt that have hidden spots that are just waiting to be found. The montreal shredders are pretty much Albert krolikowski, Eric (dirty) Trepanier, Francis(street) paskino, myself and a few other guys who ride but not as much as us. Almost every night of the summer/spring/fall you can find us schredding the streets of montreal. We always have people droping in, last summer we had Dom from england, the famous and amazing Guillaume(le fantome) Espanet from france (who is likely to make his presences known again this summer), and Rob (the beast) from england. We get guys from around quebec dropping by, (chats crew, hell yes), sometimes ontario guys and every year the fbm guys come shred as well, Montreal is said to be "gettho" to some people and i wont deny that there is some sketchy places that i wouldnt ride alone after dark, but if you stay in a group you are safe almost everywhere. Obviously not the whole city is ghetto but there are some sketchy areas, that have good stuff to ride, Ya montreal has its ghetto but we have paskino (gettho thug) to back that shit up!!! Of course a Montreal scene report would not be complete without some comment on how there are many hot girls in the city so there I said it, good luck getting them though haha. The two closest park are deux montange and trois-rivieres, Trois rivieres park is small but very fun, Deux montagne park is ok...
Montreal has a good scene, the best sessions i can remember having were late night street sessions, just riding around the less busy streets, spot to spot finding new stuff and having a good time. Not to mention watching paskino geet his mack on (or try at least). Montreal is a cool place to ride, definetely worth checking out. Thats all I can think of right now. Acually one last thought, winter sucks, only come here spring summer or fall!!!! Later |
