BACKGROUND: Pre-Starfleet Background The fourth child of somewhat wealthy merchant family on Mars, Alistar spent the first twelve years of his life in joy. With his older sisters to torment, and his older brother to help defend him from the retaliation of his sisters, Alistar knew or cared nothing for the troubles of others and suffered from no troubles of his own. He attended the best schools one could find on Mars, and was even selected and nominated for several academic awards. When he was ten, his older sister August married Starfleet officer Lieutenant John Harrison while his other sister Faith went into the family business. His older brother, Ruel, wanted to branch off and start his own business, but decided to remain until Alistar was old enough to take over their father's business.

In 2388, when Alistar was twelve, his parents, sisters and his brother embarked on a family vacation trip to the planet Brax. Because he was attending school at the time, Alistar was left behind with his grandmother. During takeoff, the shuttle carrying his family exploded, killing everyone onboard. Crushed, Alistar spent the next twelve weeks in tears, eating little and saying nothing. Over the next two years, he grew more and more distant from his grandmother and friends. Those who knew him noticed a slow, but gradual, change in Alistar as he went from the uncaring little boy into a cynical, uncaring, unemotional and extremely cold person. His grandparents did everything they could think of, from talking to taking him to the best counselors they could afford. In 2390, Alistar finally vented his feelings and bottled up frustration and anger at school when one of school bullies pushed a new female student down a set of stairs. After the resulting fight, Alistar was arrested and sent home by the local police, where he would remain under house arrest with his grandparents until formal charges were made. That night, Alistar slipped out of the house and left Mars.

Over the next few months, Alistar spent over half of his family fortune in finding out why his family had died. It was discovered that a rival merchant guild, a group of mercenaries, had rigged the shuttle with high yield explosives. After several days of digging through records and files, Alistar compiled a list containing 36 names. Over the next two years, Alistar was seen frequently in starports, and always on the move. He never spent more than a week in one place before moving on, and a series of unexplained murders appeared in his wake. No one could pin the deaths to Alistar, though most suspected and several knew for a fact that he was involved. Only the Miltian Star System Government pressed formal charges, and on 2391, Alistar was arrested on Third Miltia. Before being transferred to Miltia Prime for trial, however, he vanished while enroute to the Third Miltia star port. He was later seen by witnesses on Second Miltia as he boarded a transport headed out of the system. He was not seen again until three months later, when another murder occured in the Klingon Empire. Even with the Miltian Government, backed by the Federation, pressing charges, the Klingons refused to arrest Alistar. He was not seen again until July 2392, when he was caught by a custums security officer on Earth. Dispite what everyone knew to be true plus the charges from the Miltian government, nothing could truely pin Alistar as the cause of the two year blood trail that had led across two quadrants and twenty two systems. Alistar was released, and three weeks later he applied and was accepted into Starfleet Academy.

> Starfleet Career

> Dispite the fact that no one could find evidence of his involvement in the chain of murders, Alistar spent his time at Starfleet Academy under close observation by the Starfleet JAG office. For a time, Starfleet Intelligence held an intreast in him as well, but after several months SFI dropped the case and refused to get involved. Starfleet JAG dispatched several officers to investigate the case, and as a result Alistar spent his first three years at the Academy under probation. He was still allowed to apply and be admitted to Command School, though he was also required to take twice as many other department related courses. In 2395, Starfleet JAG dropped the case and declared that Alistar was innocent of the charges.

During his time at Starfleet Academy, Alistar was one of the few students who was pegged with the Starfleet Starship Design Course. He found the class somewhat boring, though informative of the advantages, and weaknesses, of Starfleet ships. He was able to create several new design alternatives and combat tactics for most Starfleet ships, though most of this information was simply handed in and set to the side. A few admirals in Starfleet noticed Alistar's potenual and marked him for furture refernce. In his final year at the academy, Alistar and his class were given the chance to help design a new starship design based off of the well proven Defiant class. Most of his classmates went for adding more armor and weapons, and though Alistar and one other cadet protested, the ideas were aproved and put into use. The new class, desinated the Hornet Class, was a slightly longer variant of the Defiant class. It was well armored, and nothing short of a concentrated series of direct hits couls destroy it. As noted by Alistar, however, the ship was extremely sluggish and slow, as the engine and warp core designs used for the class were not powerful enough to handle the stress of moving so much massive armor. In the initual trials, the prototype, the USS Hornet, could barely reach warp 5.5, and was finally destroyed when an over eager cadet made a mistake during a combat manuver drill in the Sol System asteroid belt. The USS Hornet slewed out of control and spun into an asteroid, taking most of the design class, the instructor, and several admirals, with her. By chance, Alistar and five other students were on an Academy training ship being used for observation nearby. Afterwards, Starfleet cancelled its order for the new Hornet class ships, though they allowed the few ships already under construction to be completed.

After graduating from Starfleet Academy, Alistar was assigned to the USS Columbia, an aging Nebula class patrol cruiser, as Helm/Tactical officer. His superior officer, Lieutenant Harry Gray, took an instant disliking to Alistar and repeatedly down the ensign every chance he could. After trying to talk to Lt Gray, Alistar finally vented by striking his superior on the bridge during a shift change after Gray had mouthed off. He was sentenced to three days in the brig and confined to quarters while off duty for one week after. Despite the incident, Alistar was promoted on time to Lieutenenat JG. He remained onboard the Columbia until her decomissioning in 2398. Afterwards, he was transferred to the USS Inverness as Tactical Officer.

Despite its official role as a deep space and long range border patrol cruiser, the Inverness turned out to be a favorable posting for Alistar. He instantly fell in with the crew, most of which had some form of bad marks or another in their records. The captain, a former penal colony inmate, welcomed Alistar despite his shady past, and after a year and a half he was promoted to full lieutenant and assigned as second officer in addition to chief tactical. Despite a large number of charges that were brought up against Alistar and most of his fellow crewmates between 2398 and 2400, the Inverness remained in full service to Starfleet, though the crew was never allowed to enjoy shoreleave on any starbase because they were sent right back out again. They made up for this by throwing crew-wide parties on the holodecks after completing any kind of mission or assignment, and sometimes for no reason at all. For several years, the Inverness was under scrict orders never to return to any Starfleet post unless it was absolutly neccessary.

In 2400, Alistar was promoted to Acting Lieutenant Commander as a prelude to the captain's retirement. While enroute to Starbase 11 for the retirement party, the Inverness recived a distress signal from a Federation ship near the Cardassian/Federation DMZ. The only starship in range, the Inverness altered course to investigate. Arriving in the system, the Inverness was immediately attacked by three Cardassian strike cruisers that had been harrassing a civilian science station. During the attack, the commanding and executive officers were killed when a direct hit tore through to the bridge, leaving Alistar in command. Using a series of illegal manuvers, Alistar disabled the Cardassian ships and ordered the Inverness to evacuate the civilian station before more Cardassians could arrive. Not surprisenly, the crew of the Inverness discovered that the station had been used to create an illegal subspace weapon, outlawed by the Kitomer Accords. Alistar ordered the weapon to be moved to the Inverness as evidence to be used in the scientists' trial. As the Inverness started out of the system, a Cardassian fleet dropped out of warp and opened fire. Seeing no other chance of excaping, Alistar ordered the subspace weapon to be installed into the Inverness weapons grid and used it to destroy the science station. The resulting explosion ripped open a subspace rift, which destroyed most of the Cardassian fleet. The Inverness chief engineer then ejected and detonated the ships warp core as the Inverness limped out of the system. Upon returning to the nearest Starbase, Alistar was immediately charged by Starfleet JAG, but cleared of the charges by Starfleet Command, though they added a reprimand to his file for using the subspace weapon. Alistar simply shrugged it all off and added yet another reprimand to his file. Despite several reservations by some of his superiors, Starfleet Command allowed Alistar to remain onboard the USS Inverness as commanding officer. Soon after, the repair yard released the Inverness with orders to go to deep space and not return for some time. It was Starfleet's way of trying to put Alistar and his crew away to where they couldn't do anymore harm.

For the next three years, Alistar and his crew remained in deep space, always skirting the Federation border. During that time, he tacked on a series of reprimands to his file, as well as a series of complaints, but surpriseingly, Starfleet simply handed him a reprimand and shuffled him off to the frontier with orders to stay there until his next screwup. The crew of the Inverness also refused to testify against their commander, his XO even going as far as stating that he himself would have done the same as Alistar if not more. Finally, in 2401, the USS Inverness was reassigned as a long range patrol ship assigned to Starbase 234, under the flag of then Rear Admiral Mark Weber.

In 2402, the USS Inverness and two other ships, the USS Atlantis and the USS Event Horizon, were pulled into the mirror universe. While there, the USS Atlantis was destroyed when members of the Terran Empire tried to take over the three starships as part of a scheme to launch an invasion on the Federation. Following the death of the Event Horizons captain, Alistar assumed command over both ships and ordered the crew of the Even Horizon to transfer over to the Inverness. He then took a small crew of volunteers and piloted the USS Event Horizon into a Terran Empire starbase while the Inverness attacked and destroyed a shipyard. Following the attack run of the Event Horizon, Alistar and the volunteer crew were forced to spend several hours battling Imperial forces on the surface of a D class planet before the Inverness returned to pick them up. Alistar then informed the Terran Empire commander present at the time that if the Inverness wasn't returned to her timeline, he would order an attack run on the Imperial capital and destroy the planet or die trying. Already suffering from two massive defeats by Alistar and his crew, the commander agreed to the terms and returned the Inverness to its timeline. Following his debriefing by Starfleet Command, Alistar and his crew were awarded promotions and commidated.

FURTHER DETAILS OF THIS OFFICER'S SERVICE RECORD ARE CLASSIFIED

Upon his return to Starfleet Command, Alistar filed his report and demanded that the project be abandoned for good. With his experience at sighting bad ship designs and his experience firmly in mind, Starfleet Command ordered the project closed. Alistar spent the next two months at Starfleet Command, officially awaiting a position, though he was constantly moved from one 'unofficial' assignment to the next. In 2404, he was asked to assume command of a new starship class prototype, the USS Andromeda. After glancing at the design, and the ships next mission to the Badlands, he agreed, although he had very little chance of protesting.

PERSONALITY PROFILE: Alistar doesn't like to back away from any kind of mission, especially if it includes a fight or unbeatable odds. He is often reguarded as a cold and heartless person, though those who know him know better. Alistar also has a habit of picking officers and crewmen who are often reguarded by Starfleet as 'hopeless' and turning them into outstanding officers and NCOs. He will rarely speak of his past, and never to anyone he does not trust or is not close to. To this date, there are only two people that can Alistar trusts, his immediate superior at Starfleet Command, Admiral Mark Weber, and his former lover, Elizabeth Trenten. Alistar also has a cynical outlook on life, and he has an odd sense of humor to those who don't know him very well.
OTHER NOTES: Though presumed dead, Alistar's older brother, Ruel McKeon, is alive. He is a high ranking agent in Section 31 who occasionally works with Starfleet Intelligence. His name is not known to any but his superiors, of which are few. Ruel McKeon has also taken a special intreast in keeping an eye on his brother for several reasons, none of which are known to anyone else. It is rumored throughout Section 31 that Ruel keeps a S31 agent near Alistar McKeon at all times, just in case Alistar needs help from an unknown hand.
