This deed of
gift made & entered into this 22nd day of August in the year
of our Lord 1854, to wit: that whereas I, Susan Garland relect
of John Garland dec'd being very aged & infirm & not expecting
possessed of some real & person(al) estate & desiring
to make a deposition where of according to my own free will &
whereas my son Solomon Garland has been a dutiful son to me, attending
to my business for a long time I give my said son Solomon Garland
all of my real and personal estate for him to take the possession
where of at my death except the seperate (sic) gifts here made,
to wit: I give to Elizabeth Robinson daughter of my son Solomon
Garland five of my dresses. I give the balance of my wearing clothes
to Susan Hammons of Knox County I give one dollar to Joseph Garland
one dollar to Lucy Richerson one dollar to Sally Offill, one dollar
(to) Viney Hopper, one dollar (to) Polly Offill, one dollar to
Patsy Hammons all the above gifts to be delivered to the said
named persons at my death or as soon after wards as may be reasonable.
In acknowledgement of the aforesaid gifts I here unto set my hand
and seal the day & date above written.

Clerk of the County Court aforesaid do certify that this deed
of gift from Susan Garland to Solomon Garland was this day produced
to me in my office & acknowledged by the persons to be their
act and deed of the said Susannah Garland by the oaths of James
Garland & George Stivers the subscribing witnesses there to.
Whereupon the same together with the foregoing certificate have
been duly admitted to record in my office.
