This indenture made & entered into this 16th day of June one thousand eight hundred and forty eight between George H Rogers of Clay County and State of Kentucky of the one part & Julius Robertson of County & State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said George H Rogers for & in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said Julius Robertson the receipt whereof the said George H Rogers does here by acknowledge has given, granted, bargained, sold & conveyed and does by these presents give grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Julius Robertson a certain tract or parcel of land situated lying & being in the County of Clay on Goose Creek & bounded as follows, to wit: beginning at large rock about 200 yards below where the said Robertson now lives which rock stands a little above high-water mark and on the south side of Goose Creek thence strait (sic) down to low-water mark thence up Goose Creek with the meanders and streams including the island above thence to the upper end of the field known as the Baker field cornering on said David Robertsons line on the banks of said Goose Creek then with David Robertsons line up the point of the ridge to the top thence with said ridge to the head of the branch that runs through said Robertsons field including all the waters of said branch thence with the top of the ridge to the top of a know (knoll?) cornering on John Hounchells corner a hickory thence down the main ridge between Billy's Branch and the branch before named with said Hounchells line to the beginning containing as is supposed about three hundred acres be the same more or less To have and to hold the above said land and premises and appurtenances to the only proper use, benefit and use of him the said Julius Robertson his heirs and assigns forever and the said George H Rogers for himself and his heirs does covenant and agree to and with the said Julius Robertson to warrant and forever defend the above described tract of land to the said Julius Robertson his heirs or assigns from and against the claim of himself and his heirs and from and against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatever. In testimony whereof the said George H Rogers has here unto set his hand and seal the day & date above written.

I William Woodcock Clerk of the County Court aforesaid certify that the deed from G H Rogers to Julius Robertson was this day produced to me in my office and proven to be the act and deed of the said George H Rogers by the oaths of G W Gregory and Francis Clark there to whereupon the said deed together with the foregoing certificate have been duly admitted to record in my office this 6th day of August 1849.
