Whereas I am
indebted to Barton Potter in the sum of $44.91 due 29th day of
July 1845, and to Charles Drew in the sum of $43.87 1/2 due the
29th of July 1845 and the better to secure the said Barton Potter
and Charles Drew, the aforesaid sums, I have this day bargained
and sold by way of mortgage the tract of land lying on the waters
of Sextons Creek and the (land) I purchased from Eli Reid &
Eli Hubbard containing 50 acres to them the said Potter &
Drew to have & to hold to them & their heirs and assigns
forever; but to be void upon the following conditions (to wit)
Should I well & truly pay & satisfy to said Potter &
Drew the above amounts and all such cost and interest that may
accrue theron, then the above obligation to be void otherwise
to remain in full force & virtue.

clerk of the Court of County aforesaid certify that this deed
of mortgage from Elias Robertson to Barton Potter & Charles
Drew was this day produced to me in my office and acknowledged
by the said Elias Robertson to be his act and deed for the purpose
there in mentioned, Whereupon said mortgage together with the
foregoing certificate have been duly admitted to record in my
office.
