This indenture
of bargain & sale made & entered into this 18th day of
April in the year of our Lord 1848 between William E Walker of
the County of Madison & State of Kentucky of the one part
& David Robertson of the County of Clay & State of Kentucky
of the other part witnesseth that the said William E Walker for
& in consideration of the sum of four thousand two hundred
& fifty dollars in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged hath granted bargained & sold and by these presents
doth grant bargain sell & convey unto the said David Robertson
a certain tract or parcel of land situated lying & being in
Clay County & State of Kentucky and bounded as follows to
wit, beginning at 3 sugar trees a beech & a poplar tree standing
on the south bank of Big Goose Creek just below the mouth of Little
Wild Cat branch about one mile below a buffalo lick in the edge
of the water just below the mouth of Laurel Creek thence N 45
*(degrees) W 200 poles to two white oaks & a poplar tree standing
on the point of a hill the same course continued to the top of
the ridge thence with the top of said ridge to the head of a branch
which empties into Laurel Creek just above Thomas Hornsbys mill
thence with the ridge on the west side of said branch running
down to a line to be run for said Thomas Hornsby agreeably to
a bond executed by John Bates to the said Hornsby thence with
said line running down west to the corner to be made for said
Hornsby agreeably to said bond thence with the lower end line
to be run for said Hornsby to the corner to be made on the South
side of Laurel Creek thence to the point of the ridge on the west
side of the Skull Branch and so to run as to include the land
on the Skull Branch to its head thence a direct line to Goose
Creek at the place where William Brittain formally (formerly
- S.P.) had a fish trap & a corner to a boundary of land
for which Elijah Griffin holds a bond from the said W E Walker
thence crossing said Goose Creek & running down the same to
the mouth of the first small branch putting into said Goose Creek
thence S 22 * E to the line of James Davdes on the north side
of said Davdes 5000 acre survey thence with said Davdes line to
a line of James Chapman Thence with said Chapmans line running
northward to Goose Creek thence with the meanders of said creek
running down & extending to a corner of James Chapmans survey
25 poles below the mouth of Beech Creek thence to the top of the
ride eastward of said Chapmans residence but not to interfere
with said Chapman's survey & to a line of George H Rogers
to Goose Creek thence a direct line to the beginning To have &
to hold to the said David Robertson the before described tract
in boundry of land with the exception of ten acres which includes
the grave where John Bates is buried which is reserved forever
and the said William E Walker the aforesaid tract or parcel of
land with the appurtenances there unto belonging or in any wise
appertaining unto the said David Robertson his heirs and assigns
doth warrant & will forever defend from all persons &
claims whatsoever and if the said land to any part thereof shall
be legally lost to the David Robertson the purchase money agreeably
to the quantity and equality lost is to be returned without interest.
In testimony whereof the said William E Walker hath here unto
subscribed his name and affixed his seal the day and date before
written.

Clerk of the County Court certify this deed from William E Walker
was this day produced to me in my office and proved to be the
act & deed of the said Walker by the oath of George Stivers
and Elhawon Clark the subscribing witnesses there to Whereupon
said deed together with the foregoing certicate have been duly
admitted to record in my office.
