This indenture
made and entered into this 28th day of August 1838 between Daniel
Garrard and Lucinda his wife of the one part and Wm Robertson
all of the County of Clay and State of Kentucky the said Garrard
for and in consideration of one hundred dollars the receipt is
hereby acknowledged hath this day bargained and sold to William
Robertson a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred
acres and bounded as follows to wit: on branch of Sexton's Creek
whereon Street Shelton now lives Beginning at a poplar white oak
and hickory on (?) Monroe (?)s north line thence with same East
110 poles to a white oak thence South 60 poles to the creek thence
50 East 20 poles to a white oak and dog wood on the bank of a
small branch thence South 80 poles to a chesnut oak and maple
thence West 86 poles C Robertsons Senrs line thence north 24 poles
to a white oak Robertson's corner thence with Robertson's line
N38 West 48 poles to Robertsons beginning thence north 108 poles
to the beginning with all the appurtenances to have and to hold
forever and I further warrant and will ever defend the title of
said hundred acres against the claim of all and any person whatsoever

Clay County to wit: I George Stivers Clerk of the County Court
for the County and State of ensaid certify that the foregoing
is a true and correct copy of a deed of conveyance from Daniel
Garrard to William Robertson which was on the 7th day of Sept
1838 acknowledged before me by the said Daniel Garrard to be his
act and deed for the purposes therein specified and on the same
day Lucinda Garrard the wife of the said Dan'l Garrard being examined
by me separate and apart from her husband and the said deed being
shown I explained to her she of her own free will voices clearly
and of her own consent relinquished her right of dower in said
land and consented that the same be granted.
