This indenture of bargain and sale made and entered into this 23rd day of March 1849 by & between Charles Robertson of the first part and Jesse Roberts of the other part Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to the party of the first part in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold unto the said Jesse Roberts the following tract or parcel of land lying & being in the County of Clay in the waters of Sexton's Creek & bounded as follows to wit: beginning at a white oak, black gum buckeye and chestnut on the east bank of the Burning Spring Fork thence S 84 E 24 poles thence S 25 W 80 poles thence N 11 W 72 to a dogwood & to oaks on the side of a hill thence N 84 W 24 poles to 3 white oaks and dogwood in a line of Jas. Monroe's survey of 20000 acres same course continued in all 48 poles thence N 11 E 91 poles thence N 25 E 80 poles thence S 84 E 24 poles to the beginning containing fifty acres be the same more or less & the said Robertson hereby warrants and defends the title to the same free from the claim of himself his heirs or assigns but not against any other person to the said Roberts his heirs or assigns forever. In testimony where of I have here unto set my hand & affixed my seal the day & date above written.

I William Woodcock Clerk of the County Court for the County aforesaid certify that this deed from Charles Robertson to Jesse Roberts was this day produced to me in my office and acknowledged by the said grants to be his act and deed for the purposes therein named. Where upon the same together with the foregoing certificate have been duly admitted to record in my office.

Given under my hand this 23rd day of March 1849.
