Facts ABOUT SAFE LANDING FLYINGS SQUIRRELS:
I Postin cuz i jus love these guys:)

QUARKSIRES fACTS aBOUT fLYING sQUIRRELS:)

The flying squirrel controls its flight with great precision. Before takeoff, it sizes up its target and judges the range and direction. It then leaps with limbs and membrane outstretched, gliding down through the branches. Just before landing, it lifts its tail and swoops upward, landing on the tree trunk with all four fee. A thin cartilage stretches from forelimbs to neck on each side of the squirrel's body, forming an aerodynamic leading edge along the membrane. The squirrel uses its forelimbs to alter the shape and tension of the membrane, thereby increasing or decreasing lift on each side so it can steer itself. And if hes lucky and he aint like quarksire and can fly like windrydr he can land correctly:) all it takes is a little focus: And try to be as gentle as a lady who lands so softly:) and gently...Watch the hummingbird land someday and u will see:) Too bad the flying squirrel can't do what the hummingbird can:) can u see these guys flying all over the planet from south america to canada + more every year:) and back whew:) hehe

Are those also called sugar gliders? My brother and his girlfriend raised a bunch of those cute little creatures and boy did I love them. We use to take them out in the public and they'd burrow into parts of our clothing. I had a ball feeding them too, meal worms, grabes, mashed potatoes they really liked and they loved to lick the ICK out of my brother's nose (TOTALLY GROSS IF YOU ASK ME)! And the noise they made, was enough to make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Nice blog Mikey!
