I have been and voted conservative/Republican my entire life and supported and defended the policies there of. However, on the issue of amnesty for all illegal aliens I must adamantly disagree with your position. I believe this bill will doom the conservative moral fiber of this nation. Welfare roles will surge, the incentive for more �illegals� will increase, the prisons system will hemorrhage (it is already filled with 25+% already), the hospital and medical systems are already hemorrhaging with �illegals�, Unemployment could increase, Social Services and schools will fill, Government handouts will increase. And the American taxpayer is paying for it. Why am I paying the high rate of taxes to support these individuals and services which are suppose to be for THE TAX PAYING citizens. This perspective is �common sense� to the average American. I also do not understand the rational for putting the citizens of this nation at risk by trucks of an inferior quality. This just does not make sense. I might find rational to support these issues if we would move forward to "really" enforce the border and �really� enforce a pre-defined quality of the trucks coming across the border, but that would take serious changes in the policy of the border patrol and would require support from the army. Our nation is being invaded before our eyes. I have heard of crowds booing our American National anthem in Los Angeles. This is absolutely disgraceful. Please help!
I sincerely commend you for your strong stand against the socialist governments of Europe with regard to Missile Defense and Kyoto. I also commend you for standing firm in the face of the press� biased presentation of these issues. True informed Americans understand the importance of making decisions that benefit our nation. I urge you to use this same logic with regard to the amnesty and truck issues. To the average informed American, your policy on these issues seems illogical and to the detriment of the nation. I will be forced to seriously consider my future relationship with the Republican party because the detrimental affect these policies will have on our nation and my children's standard of living. If the amnesty bill is passed, the future success of the Republican party will be put to serious risk. If there is a valid patriotic reason to support these issues, I would like to hear it in your press releases or direct statements to the American people. NAFTA is not a valid reason "alone". Moving forward just for that reason is not valid, if the treaty does not benefit the taxpaying citizens of this nation. Please reconsider or explain your position to us. In the spirit of President Ronald Reagan, I suggest that you communicate your positions directly to the American people since the slanted press will never convey your position unfiltered. Privatizing S.S. and School Vouchers are very popular issues for future debate. I urge you to present the benefits of these issues directly to the American people. Unfortunately, some of our uninformed citizens do not fully grasp the benefits these programs would have. Thank you very much for your time and consideration. |
| 07/19/2001 | Sen. Harry Reid | Cutting budget of Yucca Mountain Project | A few years back you touted statements like "Its for the children" referring to Republican welfare reform. Now your cutting the Yucca Mountain Project's funding touting the environment. What about all the children of the 1,500 people who would lose their job with your proposed budget cut . Science over politics or politics over science? Nevada first? We all know not. You and I both know that the repository will eventually be built. Your power brokering in Washington is only hurting specific Nevadans and their families. You'll get your headline as "fighting for Nevada", your uninformed constituents will think you really "care", the repository will eventually still get built, but hundreds of other families and children will be put at risk. You are pathetic. You are so caught up in Washington spin and PR that you don't care to know what is best for the people of your state or country. You are wasting the taxpayes money prolonging and purposely delaying delivery on a repository that was promised to the energy companies for their contributions ($$$taxes$$$) to the "super fund". If this was a private venture it would be litigated as "fraud". Thanks for all that "feel good" compassion. But don't worry. With moves like this I am becoming extremely optimistic that you only have four more years left! Thanks, and have a great day! :) |
