2007 travel league rules and information
1. NFHS rules, except where modified herein.
2.
Game time: 6:30 PM. Teams should arrive by 6:00; officials should arrive by 6:15.
3.
Game length: U17 and U14 play 2 x 40 minute halves; U12 plays 2 x 30 minute halves.
4.
Overtime: U17 plays 2 x 5 minutes; U14 and U12 play 2 x 4 minutes. Overtimes are golden goal (the first team to score wins; if a team scores in the first OT, do not play the second OT). If teams are tied after 2 OTs, coaches may agree to decide the game via penalty kicks, or end the game as a draw.
5.
Jerseys: If teams arrive with similar colors, it is the HOME team's responsibility to change to alternate shirts or wear pinnies.
6.
Substitutions: free substitutions on all balls out of bounds.
7.
Sliding tackles: LEGAL in U17 and U14 divisions; U12 slides are ILLEGAL.
8.
Cautions/disqualifications: The PYSA is primarily concerned with sportsmanship.  Officials should treat the game like any HS game, and card players accordingly. All yellow and red cards will be reported by the game referees to the Referee Coordinator. The NYSPHSAA card accumulation policy is in effect, and includes coaches: five yellow cards = one game suspension; one red card = one game suspension, etc. Repeat offenders will be dealt with by the PYSA board of directors.
8.
Fields: Two nets and four corner flags/cones are required.  The field must be in playable condition.
9.
Forfeits: Teams should make every effort to adhere to the published schedule. Any game that must be postponed or canceled MUST be called in to the Referee Coordinator, Andy Devins, BY 9:00 PM the night before the game!  Teams that cancel the DAY OF a scheduled game are still responsible for paying the referees fees for the game.
10.
Referee fees: The HOME team is responsible for payment of referees BEFORE the game begins.  Two referees will be assigned to each game. Referee fees are as follows: U17 = $37 each, U14 = $32 each, U12 = $30 each. If only one official works, the fees are: U17 = $60, U14 = $50, U12 = $30.
