Falling Down - this film was slated by the critics in America, and you can see why the Americans dislike it, it really takes the piss out of the American dream! I love this film, a must see. Most memorable scene : "Your heart, there's something wrong with your heart, what can I do?" "Pills" "Where are your pills?" "Car" (Currently heading towards the golf course lake, out of control) "Well I guess you're out of luck, aren't you sorry you didn't let me cross your golf course, and now your little pills are going to drown with your little heart, how does it feel?!"
Just The Ticket - I cannot believe I sat and watched this film, my only excuse is that I was on an aeroplane and I couldn't go to sleep, considering the actor calibour in this it's appalling.
The Seven Samurai - a true classic by Akira Kurasawa, his other films are excellent in general, but this stands out. Despite being very long the film is full of action sequences, and an incredible end scene. Most memorable scene: "The farmers should be suffering, not us" "Well don't worry YOUR suffering will soon be over!"
The Ice Pirates - most people consider this film crap, and they are probably right, however it is in my top five as I watched it the morning my GCSE results arrived, and it always entertains me. Most memorable line (bottom one!) : "They don't castrate clergy" "Why?" "Just In Case" "In case of what?" "Just in case there really is a God!!!"
Leon - superb film about a hitman befriending a girl whose family has been murdered by corrupt DEA officals, the leader being played by the excellent Gary Oldman. Jean Reno as the hitman is literally the hardest man in the world. Most memorable line: "I love these calm little moments before the storm, reminds me of Beethoven!"
Apocalypse Now - whether you watch the Redux or the original this film is amazing. Excellent drug references all the way through, particularly the surfer who couldn't deal with the reality of war, and quite sensibly stayed high throughout most of the film, in the end probably saving his life as he wasn't considered a threat by Colonel Kurtz. Amazing acting and cinematography throughout especially Marlon Brando's scenes. Robert Duvall is also great as the larger than life American. Most memorable line: "I love the smell of napalm in the morning!"
Hercules In New York - Arnie's first film, he was reported to have tried to buy every last copy up to destroy it. If you look at the title you maybe forgiven for thinking this is about a hard cop, but in fact it is about Hercules taking a holiday in New York! Poorly acted by all concerned. Reminds me of a 1970's porno!!!!!
The Star Wars Holiday Special - George Lucas is believed to have said that this is the worst mistake he ever made. It is very difficult to get hold of a copy, and it is not really worth trying either. Unbelievably Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford "acted" in this special for kids. Centering on Chewie trying to get back home for a Wookie festival it focuses on his family, therefore most of the dialog is "uhhhh". Without a doubt the most entertaining part is the cartoon.
Mystery Men - God I cannot believe that Ben Stiller who did the excellent There's Something About Mary, looked at the script of this film and went yeah that looks really good, put me down for the lead role. The film was boring all the way through, and when it finished I felt like someone had removed my brain.
Crash - truely boring, I could only be bothered to watch the first hour of this. Considering the actors in this film, it should have been better scripted.
