Great White sharks prefer to live in cold to mild temperatures. They are in greatest numbers in South Africa, Australia, California, and Mexico.

People researching Great whites are now becoming more technically advanced and been starting to tag the Great whites to monitor their whereabouts via satellite. The researchers are getting the information slowly to their whereabouts and movements.

It has been found that Great whites have been frequently in the deep waters of Hawaii at an amazing +1000m below sea level. They also had some numbers in the Mediterranean and have been also spotted off the coast of the UK. A Great white tagged in South Africa has been found only months later in Australia.

Great whites are known as the largest flesh-eating shark. They are dangerous sharks and are usually written about in literature and show on film. The number of attacks on people is actually fewer than 10 per year usually. Unlike most other sharks, the Great white has nearly symmetrical triangular teeth with serrated edges. These sharks prefer shallow, cool, coastal oceanic waters. These beautiful animals is one of the most misunderstood creatures on this planet and was unfortunately nearly became extinct thanks to the era of trophy hunting and the 'Jaws' hype.

Great White sharks are carnivorus, their diet mainly consists of fish (including rays and smaller sharks), turtles, dolphins, whale carcasses and pinnipeds (such as seals and sea lions). Great whites have been known to eat objects that are unable to digest. They prefer prey with high contents of energy-rich fat. The Great white is regarded as an apex predator with its only real threats from humans and at least in one incident the Orca.

Great white sharks use their extra senses (i.e, electrosense and mechanosense) to locate prey from far off. Their reputations as Feroious predators is well earned, but they aren't (as as once believed) indiscrimate "eating machines". They hunt using an "ambush" techique, taking their prey by surpise from below. The ambush tactic, use with the shark's ability ti attain high speeds and its considerable mass, often cause the Great whites to breach (like in the picture to the right) when attacking seals. This tactic allows the Great white avoid combat with dangerous prey, such as Sea Loins.

The Great white is one of the only sharks known to regularly lift its head above the sea surface to gaze at other objects such as prey, this is know as Spy-Hopping. The Great whites are curious animals, and display a high degree of intelligence and personality when conditions permit.

Reproduction is still unknown in most part cause the births have never been observed. But what's know of the birthing process is that the female Great whites are ovoviviparous, which means the eggs develop in the female's uterus, hatching in there and continuing to develop till they are born. Birthing usually takes place in the period transitioning spring and summer. The female's have 8 or 9 young on average but can have up to 14 young and are about 1.5 metres (5 ft) long when born.

However, what's known about how and where the Great whites mate is that evidence points to the near-soporfic effect resulting from a large feast (such as a whale carcass) possibly inducing mating.

A male Great white can reproduce when its length is around 3.8 metres (12 ft) and the female is around 4 to 4.8 mtres (13.3 to 15.8 ft) in length.
