I began in pyrotechnics as I am sure many others have. As A child I was fascinated with fireworks. As I grew older, I began to read about them. I read everything I could find, but it wasn't enough, I wanted more. I grew to love the knowledge that I was acquiring. In my teens, I began to experiment with making my own fireworks. The more I learned, the more I was hooked. Soon, I was making effects and putting on displays for my family and friends. My dream was to be a professional pyrotechnician. I couldn't think of a career that was as exciting or fulfilling to me. I knew that I would need to find a mentor, an experienced teacher, to help in my quest for more knowledge and to help in advancing my education. My search led me to a man named John Avett. John's long career in pyrotechnics has been a major step in my education. With John's help, I manufactured my first large firing system, a 288 channel D/M system. I had manufactured several systems in the past, but this was the most advanced by for. In January of 2002, I moved to Iola,Ks. to be with my long-time girlfriend Nena Stevens. She wanted to learn more about pyrotechnics and was soon totally hooked. Nena has attended several shooter training courses and is preparing to take her Ks. Display Operators license and PGI certification. Nena has been on several sites and loves it. Nena also helps to design and manufacture new pyrotechnic effects and firing systems. On July 4th,2002, Nena became my wife and co-owner of Majestyk Pyrotechnics. Nena's 2 children help out when they are able to. Amanda, the oldest, is a pyro at heart, but she will be out for awhile. Amanda is going to be giving us a grand-daughter around Christmas time. Nen's son Patrick likes the fireworks, but as with most teenage boys he spends most of his free time working, chasing girls, hacky-sacking, riding his heelies and skateboarding. Johnathan Buzbee joined our team in august of 2002, as our computer technician. Our thanks to him for helping us to design this site. We would like to thank my brother Robert and our friend Matt Luce for helping out when they are able. Our deepest thanks go to John Avett, for all of his help in advancing our educations and for helping to add to our professionalism. John owns and operates Phoenix Fire Productions in Wichita,Ks. Without John's help we would not have the ability to produce such brilliant displays. John's input is a major factor in all that we do and his friendship means the world to Nena and I. |
