| Spherical Shell | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Spherical Shells are probably the most widely recognized fireworks. If you have seen just about any Firework Display then you've seen these! Shells like this are fired from a mortar into the air wher they burst in any number of colors and effects!! Building them is an art every Amatuer Pyrotechnic must learn when he decides to get serious....... So here is a simple Tutorial on building 3" ones!!! I might add it i very difficult to teach someone to build these over the internet so bear with me!! | |||||||||||||||||||||
| What You'll Need: 1. two 3" Hemi's (They can be made, click HERE) 2. Stars (Can be cut, rolled, or pumped) 3. coated rice hulls 4. Burst (whistle recomended, many comps. can be found HERE) 5. Granulated BP (lift) 6. Time Fuse For Pasting: 7. Kraft paper 8. paste (I use Golden Harvest wall paper paste) And of course a Mortar to fire these from!! |

| Start by fusing one of the hemi's. Just drill or a cut a small fuse sized hole in the bottom of one hemi. Cut a piece of Chinese Visco 11/4" Now cut a 1" wide piece of masking tape about 2-3" long and wrap it around the center of the fuse so thers a little exposed fue on both sides. Iinsert it 1/4" into the shell and hot glue it on the outside. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Hot glue the Time Fuse on the inside and before the hotglue dries slide a drink straw over the fuse and into the glue. The fuse should now go from the outside of the shell to inside the straw. Cut this straw level with the Hemi and fill it with Granulated BP. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Now place the stars in the Hemi's. Do this by carefull placing them in the Hemi so thers an even layer all over the Hemi to the edge. All spots must be covered for a symetrical burst | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Now that stars are completely loaded we must place the burst in. Start by dumping Coated Rice Hulls in the center and fill to the top of stars. Make a small hole in the center of the Hulls and place a little burst in to fill it up. At this point both Hemi's should be loaded to the brim but not overflowing! | |||||||||||||||||||||
