| Fountain | |||||||||||||||||||
| A fountain is a very simple device which creates a spray of colored sparks. They're very common fireworks. Fountains spray sparks into the air and often have various special effects to go with the. Many people think they're not "macho" enough for them but I find they're quite entertaining and so easy to make. They are essentially Rockets mounted udside down which usualy burn much slower to give a longer lasting effect, so that should give you an idea of how they work! | |||||||||||||||||||
| What You'll Need: 1. A tube (any size will do...) 2. clay (Kitty Litter) 3. fountain comp. 4. fuse 5. rammer (dowel same size as ID of tube) |

| Begin by setting the tube upright and pouring a small amount of clay into the tube. Put the rammer in and wack it several times with a hammer and a firm clay endplug will form. Keep adding small amounts until the plug is 1/4" to 1/2" thick. | |||||||||||||||||||
| The fountain comp. you use is of course up to you. But it should burn slower than strait BP. Plus it should have some addition for visual effect. Coarse C, Al, Ti, Fe all work well for this. Many formula's can be found in the Composition Database's. A simple one howevor is 80/20 BP/additive. Pour small amounts of Comp. into the tube and press (hammer) it in there. Mkae sure to add in small amounts or the fountain may sputter or even explode when lit.... |

| Finally just add a clay endplug on the top just like at the bottom. Pour small amounts of clay in and press it in. Drilling the nozzle is quite simple. Using a drill or drill press create a nozzle 1/3 - 1/2 the ID of your tube. A fountain unlike a rocket has no core howevor so drill the hole just deep enough to touch the comp.. So when you see the comp coming out as you drill stop!! |

| Now then put a fuse in the hole and seal it in.... How you may ask? Well just mix some BP with a little Dextrin and add enough water to make it a damp mush. Push some of this into the nozzle and then push your fuse in and let it dry. When it dries the fuse will be stuck in and the extra BP will help ignition If you have NC Laquer than mixing that with BP makes an even better sealant for the fuse! Attach it to a base or just set it flat and light the fuse!! |
