| When most people start to read this review they are expecting me to make fun of pokemon; but this review is no joke. Despite the fact that it's pokemon, this game is one of the best rpg's out for gameboy. The first thing that comes to mind when i think of pokemon is the music. This music is totally hip and you will be singing it for the rest of your life. More recent games cut out the techno and put it the hipity hopity. You shouldnt expect graphics for Pokemon to be super and if you play the game you would find out why. Instead of moving blocks Pokemon gives you moving blocks with things growing off the sides. For gameboy color the graphics they are acceptable. If the graphics aren't good enough to your expectations then put it aside and just have fun with the game. Pokemon battle scenes are intense and exciting. With newer versions of Pokemon such as silver, gold and above have a feature that shows you how much experiance points your pokemon have. When you first start playing the game, leveling up is easy, which is also a plus. As your pokemon get better they need more experiance points to lvl up. Although it is an rpg there are some limitations to the game. For example, you as the trainer can't join team rocket; for some this isn't a problem, but for others who want to terrorize everything in the game, it is. The plot in pretty much all the pokemon games is the same. You start out at some professers lab and choose or recieve a pokemon. Then you run errands for him and do what he says for some of the game. Once this is out of the way you can start your master quest on your own. This involves going to all the gyms and getting all 8 badges and becoming the super ultimate pokemon trainer. Overall this game can be played over and over and over and over, without ever getting boring. That is what game designers try to accomplish and in my opinion with this game they did. Some people don't even pick up the game because they think it's "gay." Get over it and play it. My Rating: Graphics: 7/10 Gameplay: 8/10 Plot: 7/10 Sound: 9/10 Tilt: 9/10 Overall: 8/10 |
