ESPN NFL Football
By: Nick
Forget Madden. ESPN NFL Football is the new king of football games. Sega has a new name for its very popular 2k series and the name is just one of the few new features about this game.
This is probably the most realistic football game I've ever played. The one thing I hated about NFL 2K3 was that the defense
always catches up to you which makes it almost impossible to run back kicks and punts and if a running back or reciever gets away from the defense the D always catches up. ESPN Football is a prayer answered. If you break away from the defense you're going all the way for a touchdown. Although its harder to catch guys on defense you might not have to because the d-line can break through the O-line a lot easier than in 2K3 which can really help your players rack up sacks.  Plus, interceptions are pretty easy. But thats not all. The much talked about "1st Person Football" mode is in this (but you knew that) and although its pretty fun and strange its not what you want to play a franchise under. Its nothing special and kinda hard but I think you may see it again in the 2005 version of the game.
But what I really like in this game is the franchise mode. Its really in-depth now and I'll tell ya why. The injury system is more realistic than any other game. If your player gets hurt the game doesn't automatically know whats wrong. Plus, there are different injury classes like Questionable, Probable, Doughtful, or Out. So your player isn't always doomed; hes just playing injuryed. Theres also this new feature called, "The Crib." If you accomplish things in the games like, "Run for a 60 yard touchdown" or "Catch a 50 yard touchdown pass" you win stuff for your crib, which is this nice party room and you can put things up like jerseys, postors, music, videos, and more. Another cool thing is tin franchise mode is you get emails from the owner, team doctor, and espn.com telling you on progress reports, team injurys, and news around the league. You also get scoting reports on the next team you play. All of this is very helpful in managing your team.
With all these great new features for this game and some enhanced graphics you know its a must have. O yea, with Chris Burman giving us his pregame pick and a shorten version of NFL Primetime with him as the host you gotta love this game. Cus who doesn't love the B-man? I give ESPN NFL Football a:

9.6/10.
This is a shot of the First Person View. The red triangle on the left signals where the closest defender is. Getting used to this mode takes a little while for most people.
This is a shot of The Crib. Most of the stuff in there is stuff you win so the finished product is pretty sweet.
A shot of the gameplay. With the espn style gameplay it looks really good. And those two guys who have been annoucing every game since 2k are back again to give you their lame jokes but its still great fun. Another shot of the gameplay but with the routes in it. This is a good tool for the game thats been with the series since 2k2 or earlier.
