This story is set approximately 900 years before the prequel, Before Light. This is the story of how the powers that our Guardians hold now came to being on Earth.
It was just another day in the eternity of Heaven. Only peace and happiness existed in Heaven. All the angels would rejoice at their peace and joy in Heaven. However, a heavy burden began to weigh heavily on Gods shoulders.
I fear that one day, centuries from now, an evil shall rise from the depths of Hell and destroy the Earth. I cannot let that happen. God thought. I must send warriors to Earth to fight, but once on Earth, they shall become human and will become easy targets. I must send them before this evil comes and have their powers pass down from generation to generation. This way, one day there will be humans with Celestial powers to use to defend the Earth from destruction. But which of my children should I send?
Juno, are you paying attention? Her instructor demanded. Juno was reclining in a cushioned chair, feet up on the table in front of her. Her instructor glared at her with dark golden eyes. Look, if you insist on sitting there rather than learn to harness your powers, then I insist you go home and sit around! I simply wont have you wasting my time!! Juno looked at her with golden-crimson eyes.
Seriously, these mere lessons youre giving me are doing nothing for me. I mastered everything about fire years ago. Small tongues of fire flickered from her left hand. The fires went out, then fire attached itself to each of her fingers. She gazed at the fire lovingly. Juno had always, always been partial to fire. It was her baby and she was happy to be a pyromaniac. No, she was proud to be a pyromaniac. So few Celestials had the power of fire and she was the only one who could do anything festive with her powers, as well as fight with them.
What are you talking about?! Theres no way you couldve mastered the art of fire already. No other Celestial has ever mastered every single thing! How can you claim to have done this?! The instructor exclaimed. Juno proceeded to give the woman a fire showing. The womans jaw nearly hit the deepest part of Hell as she watched this cunning display of fire.
There she goes again! I cant believe how she shows off like that!? Oriana exclaimed. Sakira grinned.
Just watch this. Suddenly, a few gallons of water dumped onto Juno, putting her fire out. Juno was also soaked. Juno leapt to her feet, turned and glared at Sakira. Oops. Im sorry, Juno, I didnt see you sitting there.
You know, one of these days Im going to get you back for all this, Sakira!!! Juno exclaimed. Sakira laughed.
Id like to see you actually hold true to that threat!! Sakira and Oriana turned and ran off. Juno stood there and clenched a fist. Fire began to surround her fist.
Ill get you back good one of these days. Juno thought.
I was wondering where you got off to, Ceres. Jai said as she found Ceres in the Great Library, her nose stuck in a book. Ceres marked her place in the book and looked up at Jai.
Why were you wondering where I was? Im always in here, Jai, you should know that by now. Ceres said.
I should, shouldnt I? Well, I guess I dont pay attention to details much. Jai said with a laugh.
I guess not. Ceres replied. She stood up and stretched slightly. Anyways, what did you want, Jai?
Mother wants a word with us. She says its very important. The look in Jais eyes told Ceres not to argue. They both turned and left the library. They both spread their wings and flew off, heading towards their home.
They both reached their home. Their wings folded behind them before Ceres walked in the door first, being the eldest. Jai closed the door and both her and Ceres moved towards the sitting room.
Mother, you wished to speak with us? Ceres asked. Their mother turned her head. Her pale gold eyes looked from Ceres to Jai and back. Her black hair was loose and fell in a pile on the floor, even though she was sitting.
Yes. Her voice was soft, as it had always been. Come closer, my dears, for I have much to tell you. Ceres and Jai sat in front of their mother and waited. You both are far stronger than any other angels in Heaven. We have been alerted to a growing concern for the future of Earth and the people that live there. God has seen that an evil, centuries from now, shall arise and will destroy the Earth if nothing is done to prevent it.
As you both know, angels cannot interfere directly with that forthcoming battle. God wishes that the strongest angels are to be gathered. He will choose the seven strongest angels and they will go to Earth and breed into the human race. Ceres and Jai wrinkled their noses and glanced at each other slightly. I know what you are thinking, no angel wants to descend to Earth and breed into the human race, but if Earth and the human race is to survive, the blood and powers of the seven strongest angels must be passed into human blood.
But mother, are humans going to be able to wield the power of angels? Jai asked.
The power will remain dormant in any and all female descendents from the original angel until it is the descendent that must wield the power to destroy the evil. However, the power will remain dormant in that descendant until their bodies are mature and the evil threat is upon them. Ceres bowed her head slightly. She clenched her fist tightly.
I am assuming youre telling us this because my sister and I will be two of the seven? Ceres asked, not looking at her mother.
Yes, Came the reply. Ceres closed her eyes and clenched her teeth. Ceres was an angel that didnt like the thought of humans. Well, at least a human male touching her. Jai looked at her sister and knew what she was feeling. Jai put her hand over Ceres? And gripped it. Now, Im afraid the two of you must go now. I wish you luck, my daughters. Ceres stood and moved right for the door. Ceres, will you not at least say goodbye to me? Her mother asked. Ceres stopped in the doorway, one hand on the doorframe. Ceres wings flexed slightly as Ceres turned and looked back at her mother. Ceres golden eyes seemed to have a dark shadow in them.
Fare thee well, mother.? Ceres said, turned and left the house. Jai stood up and looked at her mother.
Fare thee well.? Jai said, more kindly and heartfelt than Ceres had. Jai gave a smile to her mother, turned and left.
Jai,? Her mother said. Jai stopped and turned in the doorway. Forgive Ceres actions. I know she is not one to give in to a human male easily. When you go to Earth, dont stray too far from Ceres. She has a dark power within her. She may have mastered the power of giving and taking life, but there is another power within that she either does not know about or hasnt mastered yet. I see that your mastery of light can counter-act whatever Ceres dark power can do. Make sure you are near her.
I shall do that mother. Jai then turned and left.
Earth
Kyoto, Japan
My lord, we recommend that you marry. You are a man of 21 years and have yet to marry and produce children. One man spoke.
Its not that bad not being married. Another man spoke up. The others in the room all looked at him. Like Lord Kurayami, I am unmarried. Just let him take his time.
But a war is heating up and you will have to fight. If you do not marry soon and have a child, our clan will fall into disarray! Kurayami held up his hand for silence.
I will marry when I meet the right woman. I cannot just go and marry for the sole purpose of having children.
You arent telling us youd marry for love rather than necessity?!
Id rather marry for love. Besides, marrying for necessity takes one womans freedom away. Id much rather not do that. No more arguing! Im tired of this talk of marriage. You are dismissed. Kurayami looked up at his lifelong friend. Thank you for defending me, Shikei. Shikei smiled broadly, his crystal blue eyes sparkled.
No problem. I hate it when they all gang up on you like that. Kurayami stood up, grabbing his sheathed sword. Kurayamis black hair fell three-fourths of the way down his back and was in a low ponytail. His emerald eyes seemed to sparkle all the time.
Well, wed better take inventory of the troops, just incase this war comes sooner than is expected. Shiukei nodded and followed Kurayami outside.
Heaven
The Great Council
Seven angels were summoned before the Great Council. God sat in His golden throne and was flanked by several seraphim and cherubim on both sides of the Great Throne Room. The Seven angels kneeled before Him and dared not look up.
You seven have been chosen to go to Earth. You must marry and bear children by a human male. One day, your great powers will awaken in one of your descendants and will drive back the evil which will rise. Ceres flinched slightly. She still didnt want to go to Earth and marry a human. When you go to Earth, you will continue to be a angel in human form until you marry. When you marry, you must become fully human. Do not worry about your powers; they will remain dormant in you. If the need ever arises, you may use your powers to defend yourself, at the cost of your life. Your powers will be passed on to each of your descendants, but will remain dormant until the Great
Evil arises. The powers will manifest themselves and transform your descendant into a being of great power, called a Guardian. Now, we wish you luck and you will always be held in a place of great honor among us in Heaven. Farewell, my Children. With that, the seven angels were teleported to Earth.
And so, the story of how the Guardians came into being begins...
