Tuesday August 3rd, 2004:  Dreaming again

Just what is the deal with my mind and dreaming I wonder?  I have written many times in this journal about my varying levels of awareness while dreaming and this is yet another one.  I was not fully conscious in this one, but I knew it was not reality.  I was dreaming about Godzilla (the new one, not the old) and I recognized that it was a dream I had before.  While I was in the dream and an active player, I also knew what was going to happen.  I remember feeling mostly anticipation for the next scene to occur so I could play my part.  I had no desire to alter the dream, but knew what was going to happen and how I was to react.  It was sort of like being an actor in a movie.  And the movie analogy is a pretty good one since that is what it was like, a movie.  I had my part to play, but I wasnt trying nor did I need to act.  It was more like I was watching a movie I had made which was already recorded, but viewing it from within the character I was playing.

It just leads me to again to postulate different levels of awareness and where exactly these levels of awareness are housed.  In this one, I felt no sense of my physical body that I usually have.  It was as if I was simply my thoughts and mind, and no tangible substance.  Simple energy flowing with no special attachment to matter.  Fact is, I think I rather prefer that existence.  The feeling of being free of physical obligation and interaction, but enjoying the illusion of it.  Not having to worry about physical discomfort or need since it was only an experience and in essence did not affect my true being.

Anyway, that probably sounds a bit confusing, but what can I say?  I just wonder how many other people experience and ponder such things.

Monday August 9th, 2004:  The Bat Brigade!

Just a quick recording.  It was really cool today because I was over at the neighbors house trimming trees and shrubs and it began to get dark.  I was just finishing up in her yard and noticed a bat flying around in her yard.  I watched it and it flew over into my yard, over the hedges.  When I went into my yard by the big Cherry tree I then saw over a dozen big brown bats flying around the yard, near the tree.  It was amazing!  They were flying around as if in a frenzy.  They would swoop very close to me (within 2-3 feet) and veer off in the last moments.  I went and sat under the tree as the bats swooped in close to me.  I thought perhaps they had made their home in the hollow hole in the bottom.  It is a deep hole since the trees base is probably around four feet in diameter.  It also is a small hole, right at the bottom of the tree, touching the ground and it goes up into the trunk, but it is small enough that I cant tell how far.  So it would be a perfect place for something to live in.

Anyway, after a while I got up and went to the driveway.  At first, they followed and hovered around me a bit, but when I got far enough away they went back to flitting about the tree.  It was interesting because I had never seen that many in such a small area.  They seemed agitated at something, or maybe they were in a feeding frenzy.  One thing is for sure, I am so glad to have them around since I hate these stupid mosquitoes.  A single bat can consume up to 1,200 insects in an hour and so I say, bring on the bats!  :-)
