Monday December 2nd,  2002:  First day of work

Well, today was my first day of work at the local Shop and Save grocery store.  I was scheduled for training the full day, but after only a few hours I was left alone and my drawer ended up being to the penny.  I think they were pretty impressed with my positive demeanor and ability to catch on very quickly.  It is typical for me I suppose.  I have never had much trouble learning new things and this was no exception.  I also received a few compliments today from customers on my cheerfulness.  Its nice to be back working, but I am fairly certain that it will become mundane fairly quickly.  I suppose thats always been a problem for me.  I learn things so quickly and often get to the point where I feel no challenges then become a bit bored or restless with the mundane, everyday aspects of things.  I still am able to keep a cheerful attitude, but any sense of meaning is usually absent and it all seems so much like my life is being wasted with no sense of real accomplishment.  Just the everyday grind.

Otherwise things are going along as usual.  I have created another website called the Guy County Chronicles.  It is an online soap opera and it is pretty good I think.  It is a good creative outlet for me.  I am not sure how well I will be able to keep up with it though now with work.  My schedule is pretty sporadic this week and I am hoping that it becomes more regular once my initiation period is over.  I was expecting only about 20-25 hours a week, four days or so.  I am working over 30 hours this week however and knowing how strong an employee I tend to be, I wouldnt be surprised if that becomes a common thing.  I suppose time will tell.
