Quistis sat the letter down on her bedside table beside the unfinished Thriller novel, she had yet to complete. With many thoughts in her head she drifted quietly to sleep.
Zell wondered why Quistis was roaming around garden in the dead of the night. What was she looking for, she had came to his domitory door ten minutes earlier.
Knock Knock
Zell woke up barely sliting his eyes open, "What do you want?"
"Zell?" It was Quistis, "Have... seen...?" She drifted off muttering.
"What did you say!?" Zell slammed his fist to his pillow and rolled over.
THUMP
"Ouch!!!" Zell complained as he lifted himself off of the floor. "Stupid bed! Grah... too... small... Disturbing people asking you stupid questions at..." he looked at his clock, "Two, thirty in the morning!?!?" Zell lashed out at no one.
A series of falling objects, an over turned table, and a stubbed toe, made a sound so loud it drowned out Zell's loud shreik. He screamed every unaudible, harsh word, he knew, and stumbled to the door, opening it hard and slamming it against the wall, so hard it fell off the hinges.
Qusitis stood there, eyes bulging, she looked past him at his room. "I came to ask," she swallowed and looked at Zell, who's face was red with fury and embarrassment, "Nevermind!" She turned and started to walk away.
"No!" Zell yelled, "You made me get out of bed at Two thirty in the morning, and YOU ARE GONNA TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT!!!"
Quistis turned to him her face tinged with red, "Excuse me, Mr. Dincht, but It is not my fault that you must be so clumbsy, and thick-headed! I came to ask you if you've seen anyone since nine o'clock."
Zell stared at her, "You drag me outta bed at THIS hour to answer THAT!?!? Are you insane?! No! I came back here at eight!" He took another breath and looked at her, "Why?"
Quistis smiled, "No reason," she smiled and left Zell staring puzzled after her. 'He wouldn't know. Maybe she woke up and was released after I left. Hmm... I'll ask Squall. Zell, doesn't expect me to waste his time again, asking him something totally pointless!'
Zell stared at her, "I know what you're thinking, Quisty!"
She turned and smiled at him, "No you don't.
Zell slammed the door and cut the lights on, quickly. "Man! This totally sucks!" He looked around at his wrecked room, "This really sucks!"
He cut the lights off again and stumbled to bed, his toe missing the table my inches. He laid down, and fell quickly back to sleep, "Crazy, woman."
Squall opened his eyes slightly, "What the...?" He woke up quickly and looked at this door, he could've swore he just heard it close. 'Who was in my room?' He looked around, everything seemed to be in place. He sighed and lay back down. After sitting for a minute thinking about nothing, he grabbed his jacket, and gunblade and he left. He kept being disturbed, by screams coming from Zell's room, someone slam a door-twice, someone scream 'Sorry' and it sounded stangly like Irvine, alot of 'shushing' and loud footsteps. How was he supposed to get anysleep with all of this going on?
He left his room and headed for the Training Center. When he walked into the training center, he took the left door and headed off to look for something to battle. He seemed to come across no luck of a battle. He continued right up to the secret area. 'Oh no..... I'm not going in there. 'Unsuspectingly Selphie reached out and pulled him in, she was stronger than he expected. He groaned and turned back to the exit. Except he was stopped by her again.
"Hey, Squall!!" Whatcha doin'?" Selphie smiled and jumped up and down.
'Too much energy.' Squall stared at her, "I couldn't sleep."
"Heh! I could but somebody wouldn't let me!!" Irvine walked up and shot a glance at Selphie.
"Irvy!" She thrust her hands on her hips and turned to him.
"Sorry!" he stepped back.
Squall sighed, and pointed at Selphie, "You are too loud!" He turned to Irvine, "You, also, are too loud!" he sighed and looked at both of them, "Now, that I've said it I can go back to my dorm in peace." Squall sighed and left.
Selphie and Irvine starred after him dumbstruck. Selphie, of coarse, was the first to speak, "Whoa... that wasn't like Squall..."
Irvine didn't budge, "..."
Selphie smiled caustiously, "Maybe... he's better the other way."
Irvine looked at her, "Yeah..."
"Yeah!? Oh really!?" She glared at him, "You are the one who had to go slam the door and scream 'Sorry!' " She mimicked Irvine in a very inaccurate fashion.
Irvine, began walking back to his dorm, leaving Selphie starring after him.
"Hey!" She called, "I'm sorry!" and she followed him.
Balamb was a very quiet place at day, it was even more quiet at night. Rinoa entered the small town through the gas station. She went past the small shops and homes straight to the train station. The town was dark, and the only person outside was a man who had fallen asleep on a bench beside one of the shops. She entered the train station and walked up to the conductor.
"Excuse me, sir?" she tapped him on the shoulder.
He turned around and smiled at her, "Yes, miss?"
She returned his smile, "Where is this train going?"
"Oh, we're heading towards the Galbadian continent. Stop over in Timber, I think. Then we're on to Deling." He wiped some sweat off of his forehead with a rag, "We're just stopping for a slight repair job, we should be leaving..." he paused, thinking, "around five or ten minutes."
"Do you think I could ride this train to Timber? Eh, well, it'll cost you-"
Rinoa handed him her gil, "May I, please?" She looked at him pleading.
He smiled at her, "Go board. The last cart's only got one passenger, like yourself, wantin' teh get to a city."
"Thank you!" Rinoa smiled at him and ran to board the train.
She walked into the cart, the door automatically closing behind her. She looked around, it was different type of train than she was used to, small seats lines up facing each other along the walls, it was very nicely decorated. Paintings hung on the walls of the cart, and the seats here soft and scarlett red. A man, who didn't look much older than herself, sat up when she entered.
"Oh, hello?" He said, then he looked at her, "Hello."
She smiled at him and nodded, "Hello, how are you?"
The guy stared at her as she took a seat on the other side of the cart, "Oh I'm fine, how about you?"
Rinoa smiled at him again, "I'm well."
He nodded before laying back down on the seats. A long silence passed, the train started and the blackness of the night made the windows solid colored, with the lights from inside the cart shinning against them. The man said nothing, he just sat not talking.
Rinoa glanced at him, "What's your name?"
The man looked up, "Oh. Yumenegau. Who are you?"
Rinoa stared at him for a moment, "Oh my name is--er..."
"Er?" Yumenegau leaned back and looked strait at her face. "Ya know, I'm not out to kill anyone, just tell me your name."
Rinoa was suprised by this, he was so... 'Squall?' She moved her gaze from his face to her feet. He was a very quiet person, and he seemed kind of like Squall, 'Oh great! Now, I've started thinking!' she looked back at him, "My name is Rinoa Heartilly." Something was wrong. She felt wrong the second the words were out of her mouth.
She had thought he was just a normal guy, but he just seemed so different, now.
He looked at her and smiled, "Nice to meet you... Rinoa."
She examined at his smile, 'Definatly NOT a Squall trait.' Though... There was something wrong about him, the way he smiled, the way he acted, the way he looked, but what was it that made him different?
She nodded at him and sat back uneasily in her seat again. "Nice to meet you, too, Yume..." She looked away and to the opague window shade.
"Where are you going, Rinoa? I'm going to Deling." She kept from looking at him.
"Uh... I don't know, where ever the train stops next?" Rinoa shrugged, trying to look sincere.
"You're going to Timber?!" the guy smiled again, "Me too!"
Rinoa looked at him, "But, you just said they were going to..." she trailed off.
He looked at her like he didn't know what she was talking about, "What are you talking about?"
She looked away and he laid back down on the seats and went to sleep. She knew it, there was some thing wrong with this guy. She looked at him laying on the seat, his short hair came down lower in the front than in the back. He wore a long black trenchcoat and torn up jeans and white shirt, he also had a chain around his neck, it was an odd symbol, she had a feeling she had seen it before. Whatever it was she didn't like it, she shouldn't have told him anything.
