Squall looked at his clock it was almost 2:30 in the morning, and he remained sleepless, starring at his cieling in thought. He closed his eyes and slowly drifted into a deep sleep, perhaps he was more tired than he had thought. Before he drifted to sleep he managed to curse Seifer, through clenched teeth.
"Shh!" Selphie beckoned Irvine over to her, as he came out of his temporary dorm, loudly slamming the door by accident.
"Sorry," Irvine winced, and walked quietly over to Selphie, "I forgot."
"He he!" Selphie smiled up at him, "So, let's go find something to do!"
Irvine yawned, "It's..." he looked at a wall clock, "Two fifteen!?"
"Shh!" Selphie put a finger up to her lips, "Be quiet or you'll wake someone up. Like Squall." Selphie pointed to a door two away from her own.
Irvine frowned, "Why are you bored so early in the morning?" Irvine shrugged, "I could've swore people weren't supposed to be bored at this time of night."
"Yeah, well, I am!" Selphie snapped cheerfully.
Irvine groaned, "Oh I remember! They were supposed to be ASLEEP!" Irvine whispered loudly.
Selphie grabbed his wrist and dragged him down the hall.
They were walking to the training center, Selphie had reluctantly let irvine walk on his own feet, when Irvine saw her.
"What the...?" he trailed off starring as the girl in black and blue trudged slowly down the hall, but he didn't get to see her for over two seconds before Selphie pulled him in the training center quickly, behind her.
"Hey, wait a minute, Selph!" Irvine planted his foot firmly on the ground, and was greatly shocked when she pulled him over on to his face.
"Irvine!" Selphie smiled and put her hands on her hips, "You're supposed to kiss me! Not the floor!"
Irvine jumped up quickly, as the girl giggled watching him, "That's not funny, ya know." he dusted himself off.
She looked at him, "Yeah, it was!"
Irvine looked at her seriously, "No, it's wasn't. I thought I saw Rinoa!"
Selphie's face turned to a confused and worried expression, "But-she's unconscious! Are you serious?"
Irvine nodded frantically and ran to the training center entrance. Selphie came up behind him, "She must have left." There showed no trace of Rinoa on the dark Garden halls.
Irvine rubbed his eyes, and thought about it, it didn't seem likely that Rinoa was roaming the Garden halls at night, "Nah, I dun think I really saw her. Maybe I was just imagining it."
Selphie looked at him skeptically, "Uh, Ok! Whatever you say!"
Irvine looked at her for a second and gave her one of his charming smiles. He quickly put his hand around her shoulder and they walked off into the training center to find the 'secret area.'
Quistis got up from her bed, laying her book on the table beside her. She looked up at her clock, "Hmm... Two-twenty." It was a restless night for her as well. She had decided to read a book to help her find sleep, but it hadn't helped much. The book happened to be a thriller novel. It took her all she had to just put it down. She planned to start reading again, after she returned from checking on Rinoa in the infirmary.
She walked out of the room, and started on her way twords the infirmary, she knew it wouldn't be open, but she'd find a way to get in. She walked up to the infirmary entrance and the gaurd stepped in front of her, "What are you doing here, SeeD? You know you shouldn't be here!"
Quistis took a step back and summoned her magic. She cast a small sleep spell on the gaurd and he fell to his knees. Quistis, quickly walked on past him. She, as a former instructor, knew it was wrong to do so, but she had been gaining more courage sence she had went to be Squall's back up in the Fire Cavern. He really didn't need her there though. He had beat the Ifrit in under ten minutes, and was able to access it as a Gaurdian Force.
She walked in and cut the lights on walking into the room Rinoa had been in. "What!?" She looked around the room frantically.
Rinoa was gone. All that was thee in the room was the empty bed. The moonlight made the room seem quiet and lonely, for other than Quistis's shreik of panick.
She left the office turning the lights off, wondering where Rinoa had gone. She walked past the gaurd and cast a cure on him, and he woke up, just when she got out of sight. She headed for Rinoa's temporary dorm room. She knocked and waited for a response. Nothing. She took another cut through the dorm hallways to Selphie's room and knocked. No answer. She followed suit with Irvine, a very angry at being waken up at almost 3 in the morning, Zell, and she had no luck. The only place left was Squall's dorm.
Quistis walked up to the door and knocked lightly. No reponse, She opened the door just enough to look in. Squall lay asleep on the bed, gunblade lay shining in it's open case beside him.
Quistis left and closed the door. He obviously didn't know where she was. Quistis walked to her dorm and opened the door. When she stepped in she heard the crinkle of paper. She looked down and saw a quickly folded letter. From Rinoa.
She closed the door behind her and unfolded the very wrinkled up paper.
It's me, Rinoa. I am giving this note to you because I know
-RinoaQuistis,
I can trust you to keep this secret. I have left the Garden
and I'm going to Timber. I didn't want to wake you or anyone
else. Good-bye's come hard for me. I have some things I need
to think about, and I feel in Timber I might have the time and
familiar surroundings I need to think about this. Please, my
disappearance is sudden, so if anyone asks where I am, please.
Don't tell them where I've gone. I should be back in a week, no
more, no less. If they ask where I am. I have gone to visit a
friend in Dollet for a few days. Thank you, Quistis.
Quistis sighed and folded the letter. This was going to be very interesting, explaining why Rinoa left as soon as she woke up!
