'So this is Yumenegau..' Selphie thought as she walked towards the mansion to find Squall or any of the other party members. 'The way Quistis was talking about him I was expecting.. maybe a bit more violence? Maybe, someone who was out to kill us instead of help?' The curly haired seed looked back at him, "You look just like Squall! Are you that guy that came here with Rinoa?"
Yumenegau nodded silently. He stared down at his feet as he continued walking behind her, "I'm sorry about your friend.. " He drifted of and halted, sensing her sharp stop in front of him.
"How did you find out about him?" She looked down as well.
Sighing he glanced at her, "Xu worked with us.. me and Waruitenshi.. She told me when I talked to her through my ship's radio. I went straight to Galbadia Garden instead of to meet them and enter Esthar. I notified the garden of a possible invasion of SeeDs in Esthar. I told them they were rebels from Balamb, and they were unstoppable. When I left they were sending out forces to stop Xu and the others."
Selphie bit her lip, "That must've been hard..." she slowly began walking again, "Why did you do it?"
The dark-haired boy sighed, "It's just... wrong. The sorceress is-"
"SORCERESS!?" She turned to him, eyes bulging, "What sorceress!?"
Yumenegau looked up and frowned, "The girl you knew as Waruitenshi is actually a sorceress called Elynia."
Selphie went dizzy for a moment, "Wait! We just fought a sorceress! Are you saying we have to fight another?" she struggled to even stand up straight.
His frown deepened, "She no longer possesses the other body. She has now taken control of your friend Rinoa."
Selphie gasped and her jaw dropped, "We have to fight Rinoa!?"
Starting to walk again, Yumenegau passed her, "What Elynia has in mind is suicide for all those SeeDs." he sighed, "What she's doing is just not right, and I'm not taking any more of her games."
The young SeeD stared after him, "Do we have to kill her!?"
The man continued to walk, "If that's what it takes."
Selphie frowned and started after him, she muttered to herself, "Kill Rinoa... First Irvine, now Rinoa? We can't do that!"
Selphie and Yumenegau quietly slipped through the hallways and corridors of the mansion, careful to avoid running into anyone, or being seen. Finally, coming to the second floor, they started down a long hallway. They had no sooner stepped into the hallway when Quistis stepped in through the other end.
The blond SeeD stopped dead and narrowed her eyes, "Selphie, move! I knew something was going on here!" Quistis drew her chain whip but was quickly surprised when Yumenegau started to chuckle.
She was about to swing at him when he stopped and looked her dead in the face, "I am not here to fight you. I've come to help, and if you decide to attack me and suffer through all the noise it's going to make, you're going to have some problems. The sorceress is going to come up here and you'll have to explain why you are using a chain whip in the mansion. I will be in trouble for coming back instead of completing my mission. You will blow the cover for all of your friends, you put your friend, Rinoa's life in possible danger, and you probably won't make it back to Garden, or ever find your Headmaster. Would you like to think about this before you move, Trepe?"
Quistis stopped absolutely speechless. After a few moments of quiet she finally enabled herself to say, "Why should be trust you?"
"Because I know what's happened to your friend Rinoa. I know what's going on, and I know how to stop it. And I think, if you listen to me, I may know how to save the girl and kill the sorceress, Elynia, inside of her."
The blond SeeD looked to Selphie, and saw the the young seed's doll-like face was hopeful, Quistis sighed, "Ok.. But I'll be watching you EVERY second!" she snapped as she looked defeated.
Selphie threw a worried expression at Quistis, "Squall and Zell aren't gonna' believe it. What do we do about it?"
"Look." the tall Squall look-alike stepped forward, "They have to find out sooner or later. Just tell them. I AM sure of what's going on!"
The blond SeeD looked irritated, "What are we going to do about Rinoa..or Elynia? Huh? Walk into her bedroom in the middle of the night and slit her throat?" She cocked an eyebrow.
"Ya know, that's not a bad idea. If only we wanted Rinoa to die!" Selphie snapped, stating the obvious.
Quistis rolled her eyes. "Footsteps.." she looked back in the direction she had just come from. "We'll have to wait until everyone's asleep to talk about this."
The other two nodded.
"Hide him-" she gestured to Yumenegau, "-somewhere until everyone's gone to sleep."
Selphie nodded and Yumenegau let out a muffled groan as she led him away.
Waiting until they were gone Quistis began walking down a hallway behind her. Pausing briefly at hearing a low 'hissing' sound followed by quick footsteps. She shrugged and continued walking. The hallways were dark without the light of the moon to shine through the windows, and no twinkling stars filled the night sky. The blond SeeD was just noticing how sincerely dark it was when things got even darker. She saw nothing, she heard nothing, nothing happened. All went black as she felt her body collapse and a some slight tugging on her arms.
'I knew it was him!' The sorceress screamed at Rinoa in her mind, 'Well, this is the last time you keep anything from me! Because when I kill off your little friends tonight, Rinoa, I'm killing you off too.'
'But you cant live without a body!' Rinoa screamed back at the sorceress.
'All I have to do is drain you of your life power and HP, and I will have every ability you have to add on to my own already extended list of abilities and powers. I will take my own form, then.' The sorceress smirked as she walked from the second floor hall, her footsteps echoing against the walls as she couldn't help but laughing at the whole conversation she had heard between the maid and a guard without her helmet. Also in their tiny group was her knight, Yumenegau.
'You knew I was going to find out. So your friend Quistis was playing the maid, Selphie was playing the guard--good job she did forgetting to put her helmet on. And now I know what Yume's been up to.' She continued to laugh through clenched teeth, but it only came out as a low hiss to her ears, and she continued to walk down the hall.
