The large marble tiled floor had strips red velvet rugs. Rinoa stood facing a large window. Though, what was through the window didn't match the environment for this place. The snowy atmosphere of icicles and snowflakes seemed odd to her. Someone would have to travel along way to get the fresh flowers that scented this large room.
"Where am I?" Rinoa looked around in awe.
A door across the room from her swung open and Waruitenshi walked in, followed by Yumenegau. The battered and bandaged, Squall look-a-like, shut the door behind him and seemed to act as if a random soldier, following orders not to speak or react to anything.
Waruitenshi approached Rinoa swiftly without hesitation. The small smirk of satisfaction on her face told Rinoa that they had definitely concocted a plan, and Rinoa was going to have a part in it. A very unwelcome part.
The girl stopped inches away from Rinoa and motion to Yumenegau who, Rinoa could see out of the corner of her eye, was moving various pieces of furniture to get into a small closet she hadn't noticed earlier. She now realized that she had failed to see that this room would have looked like one in Caraway's mansion, if a few minor differences had been made, she glanced at the snowy window.
The scraping of something being dragged across the room, is what Rinoa heard as Waruitenshi stared in Rinoa's face, unmoving.
"Rinoa, I must let you in on my plan." Waruitenshi's smiled broadened.
"OUR plan!" She heard Yumenegau correct her from somewhere nearby.
The golden-haired girl rolled her sparkling eyes, "Yeah, Yeah, whatever. When it comes your time to die, don't cry to me about anything!"
Rinoa couldn't help but laugh at the comment, 'That was the lamest pun I've ever heard!'
It's funny, 'cause everytime I move my wrist near the keyboard, my cat tries to rest his head on it, but it keeps bobbing since I'm typing. He's getting pissed at me. Shutting up for now.
Waruitenshi slapped the dark-haired girl sharply across the face.
Rinoa immediately stopped laughing and looked at Waruitenshi in complete seriousness. 'What are they doing to me? What is it they're up to?'
"So, you should wonder." Waruitenshi replied to Rinoa's quick thought. "We've dragged you into this giant jungle and we have left you without a map."
Rinoa narrowed her eyes and shook her head, "What is it with you people and metaphors? Cat and mouse? Jungle and map?" Rinoa smiled.
The taller girl narrowed her eyes as well staring straight into Rinoa's eyes. Her mind seemed to read Rinoa's every thought. 'Can she sense I'm afraid? That I don't know what will happen to me?'
Waruitenshi's eyes seemed to spiral, first clockwise then counterclockwise, then clockwise again, in a hypnotic fashion. Rinoa found herself going into a trance. 'What is happening to me?'
"Why don't you have a seat, Rinoa, my dear?" Waruitenshi's smile remained as her features became more dark in Rinoa's eyes. The deep dark blue eyes of her beautiful face went black, though the pupils where livid with fire.
The raven-haired girl found herself leveling into a chair, that Yumenegau had placed behind her. Two strings of rope, acting like snakes, slyly coiled themselves around her body tightly, bounding her to the seat. She could not move her eyes from Waruitenshi until they had finished confining her to her chair.
Waruitenshi looked away and the dark-haired girl immediately left her trancelike state. 'Oh, God! I can't move!... She hasn't yet showed a sign of being this strong.. Is she a...' Rinoa struggled with the tight ropes while the thoughts of Edea flooded her head.
The golden-haired girl smiled, "I figured you would eventually find out... I didn't know it would take you this long... But I knew you would find out."
Rinoa was petrified at the girl, "Your a...."
The tall blond beauty threw Rinoa a taunting smile, "I'm a what?"
"You're a sorceress..." Rinoa said as she struggled for breath. The ropes were to tight and seemed to cut into her skin everytime she moved.
Waruitenshi stared down at the dark-haired girl, once the daughter of the Galbadian Army's leader, General Caraway. "You and your friend have been wondering what's going on," she paused and glanced at Yumenegau who coughed loudly, a small sign of protest, "Unlike, my knight, I do not believe you should be left in the dark on everything that's been going on." Yumenegau rolled his eyes from across the room.
The angelic blue-eyed girl continued, "I wish I could have introduced you to my Balamb Garden spy. Unfortunately, she still plays under the roll of SeeD. Her name is-- You might know her..." Waruitenshi put a hand on her hip. "She knows you. Her name is Xu."
wtf mate?
Rinoa felt her jaw drop, she remembered meeting Xu, seeing her in the halls. She was always so dedicated. How is it possible that she could be a spy for such a... a sorceress?
"Xu is how I got my report on you. She is how I found out that you hung around a group consisting of.." She made a little introduction gesture, "Squall Leonhart."
She continued, " I have been looking for you, for a while, Rinoa. This body I use is pathetic. I have just now managed to strengthen her, and she is still not strong enough! Can you believe I must be forced to be the pathetic sister of a bar tender?!" Her faced welled up with fury, the rage in her words were surprising, from such a doll like creature.
"She has nothing of my use! She may be beautiful, but she is weak! It is beyond a sorceress to do anything to this body other than destroy it. You are my way out, Rinoa! You are my chance to have the true power I deserve!" The girl took a few deep breaths after spilling all of this out.
"I run from forces like the gardens! Even Trabia could destroy me, and the GFs know they aren't in good shape right now!" The girl clenched her fists.
Rinoa dismissed the content about Trabia and whatever had happened to it, 'If she's a sorceress, how come she hides from people? Edea did just the opposite.'
"Why do you hide if you are a sorceress?" Rinoa questioned.
Warui made an expression of pure sadness, like she was about to cry. For a moment Rinoa felt sorry for her. "It's this body! You must understand, when I possessed this girl, I was in danger of dying. This girl just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I marveled over the beauty I had received for days after I took control of her. Then I came a cross battle in Esthar, and found my powers had reduced greatly, I could barely use any of them. I finally killed them off, but the small battle lasted too long. This body is too weak for me. If I am to show myself as a sorceress, I must be able to use my powers! I must have a body capable of it! And you, Rinoa, are the one I have been looking for!"
Rinoa choked, "You're going to possess me!?"
"If I am too have a body capable of magic, they must have rank, they must have a spotlight of some sort! Who better than the daughter of General Caraway!? I could have access to the Galbadian Army, I could be the great ruler I am supposed to be! The looks, the power, the force, everything I need!" The girl began to walk in slow circles around Rinoa.
Rinoa threw the girl an expression of puzzlement, "But then why did you want to kill Squall?" she looked over at Yumenegau, then back at the slowly traveling Waruitenshi, "And, why couldn't you just possess me the moment you caught me?"
Yumenegau leaned back in his own chair against the wall, across the brilliantly decorated room. "You ask too many questions... Well, Squall persists a problem in the whole plan. He is one of the best SeeDs out there! Waruitenshi sent me to survey the final fight between you, and Seifer. I saw Seifer and thought of all the information Xu had given us. Seifer and Squall have been fueding sense, the GFs know when. I thought, what a great idea if I could trick Squall into thinking Seifer and Edea hadn't been destroyed. I thought mainly of the amusement I would get if I got to impose as Seifer. So I used the new spell, Warui had given me, and I stole his identity."
He leaned back, on the chairs back legs, "It was a spell that is almost unnoticed when drawing someone's identity. Though it leaves a tiny red light, following the one just relieved of his image. It followed Seifer and I noticed you watching it. It put you into a trance, and you just fell to the ground. It was then when I had the idea about Squall's identity."
The Squall look-a-like was showing signs of boredom explaining, but he continued anyway, "I saw the look of shock you he had when he saw you go unconscious, without being attacked. A genuine expression of fear," he shrugged, "I'm not saying I understand it, but I thought, 'heck! Why not?' and I took his identity too. It turns out people could live with fear of us. The most powerful SeeD in garden, a knight to the most powerful sorceress. It all just works out well don't you think?"
Rinoa bit her lip, "But why didn't Waruitenshi just steal my identity and use that?"
"I have to have your body, too. There cannot be two of the same person. If I am you I can use my powers." The tall beauty leaned against the table, in the middle of the room. She delicately pulled a flower out and twirled it by it's stem between her thumb and index finger.
"I must destroy Squall, because I cannot possess him, like a sorceress can possess people. I must destroy him because he is stronger than me, but there cannot be two of us." Yumenegau smiled sweetly at Warui as she twirled the flower.
"I didn't possess you when we first caught you, because I had to go to Balamb Gardens to receive some information from Xu, that the girl refused to tell over the phone. We had just received news that you had left the garden suddenly, from Xu earlier, Xu managed to get hold of the note Quistis had been given after some clever eavesdropping on the 'EX-instructor' Quistis Trepe," she turned back to face Rinoa leaving Yumenegau with an affectionate glance, from where she had faced him.
Seph pulls a cookie out of the box, munching thoughtfully as she listens to Asian Kung-Fu Generation and types little HTML paragraphe breaks between all the paragraphs in this fanfic. She wonders vaguely what she was smoking six years ago that concocted this plot. She is going to have a headache for the next hour.
"The note said you went to Timber, Yume set it up to trap you and make Squall fight to get you back. Squall is know as a lone-wolf, only because he in so secretive and keeps to himself. Unfortunately the letter didn't get received, and it took them two weeks to come for you. And when he came, he brought his stupid little friends into it."
She sighed, "I still left you alone when I came back merely because I don't know much about how you act, I have to know how to act like you when it's needed. Our plan just fell apart. Now, it's back together, though." The girl smiled wickedly. "I am now going to become the most powerful being alive." Waruitenshi seemed to be surrounded my a black haze.
The dark haired girl looked up at her, "Why did you tell me all of this, if you get rid of me now?"
"You will not die, Rinoa. You will able to witness everything I do, though you will have no say in it, you will not officially live. But you won't be dead either. It's a one way relationship, I benefit, and you don't. I have arranged this to let you see what happens when I become you, so you'll be able to see your friends die."
The blond girl, beautiful with her deep blue eyes, reached out to Rinoa, and slowly began to take over.
Rinoa gasped for the breath that she was quickly loosing. She screamed as the sorceress entered her body, as she became a sorceress herself. It seemed she was going to die, unlike Waruitenshi sad. She must be, she saw memories of her life pass before her as she sunk into darkness. She saw Irvine with his hat on smiling, Selphie jumping up and down happily, Zell practicing his punching, Quistis laughing. She saw Zone and Watts on the Forest Owls train, her father, even her mother. The last thing she saw was Squall as he said "I can't dance."
