Sailor Pluto appeared in the episode, "Serena times Two" from Sailormoon R with Reeny. Pluto is the Guardian of Time, and she helped Reeny to travel back in time so that she could get the silver crystal needed to save Neo Queen Serenity. Pluto is inside the Luna ball and only appears to be the size of a fairy but she becomes human size and appears in the next season.

When Reeny is threatened by the Black Moon and the intervention of Sailor Moon and the Inner Scouts is necessary to free the Small Lady from the nightmares that oppress her, Sailor Pluto asks the Sailor Senshi to go into Reeny's dreams and to protect her from the dangerous attacks tormenting her.

After the short appearence in the second series, in the third series, Sailormoon S, Sailor Pluto arrives on the Earth as Setsuna Meioh.  She is a friend of Haruka (Amara in NA) and Michiru's (Michelle for NA).  Her purpose is to gather the three talismans and to get the Grail.  The first two talismans were found in SailorNeptune and SailorUranus' hearts.  The third talisman, the Garnet Orb, divided itself from Sailor Pluto's Time Staff.

After finding the talismans and the Grail, Setsuna gives the Scouts a new mission, to find the Messiah able to defeat the darkness using the Grail. Sailor Pluto must use her forbidden power, stopping the time, to allow her younger friends to save themselves and carry on the mission, and she is temporarily banned from Earth.

Sailor Pluto finally come back on the Earth at the beginning of SailorStars.
Sailor Pluto is over a thousand years old, she is the only scout who was not reborn on earth, because she is the guardian of time however, she does seem to be around the same age as SailorUranus and SailorNeptune.  Sailor Pluto is a lonely fighter, more mature than the Inner scouts and, in smaller manner, the other Outer Scouts. Her powers are huge and her wisdom is enormous, gained in the centuries during which she had accomplished her duty to guard the Gates of Time.. Her deep glance shows gloom and determination due to the loneliness of her life and the consciousness of her very important role to mantain the world's stability.
