episode 4: so you wanna be a superstar

Serena is running down the street. "Man, it's the . . . third time this week I'm gonna be late for school.  I gotta slow down and think of an excuse."" She looks at a poster. "Saffron's Vitamins give energy..." Suddenly, someone hits her in the head. "Hey, MOLLY?" Molly yells. "Come on! We'll be late!" They run towards school...

In school, Melvin shows the girls a Saffron poster. "I won it off the internet from my Saffron Fan Club. Did you know that she got 5 million bucks for her first role?" Serena gasps. "5 million? WOW!" A few grils crown around, and they all begin to wonder what they would do with the money. "I wish I was a superstar!" says one. Melvin replies, "I think one of you could be a superstar!" They shout, "Spill!" He says, "It could only be the mesmerizing, beautiful, uncomfortable SERENA!" She smiles and says, "Me? A superstar?"...

Downtown, a girl is signing autographs. She is Saffron! Jedite watches in disguise. "We can use her..."

At Serena's, Molly and Serena hatch a plan to become superstars - "We're going to do rock videos!" shouts Molly. She puts a tape in - it plays a variation of the SailorMoon theme. They begin to dance and sing off key "Fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by daylight..." when Sammy comes in. "Are you trying to torture me?" Molly laughs, "Wanna be a backup dancer?" Sammy runs away in horror.

"Lets get back to business!" They start the music again.  Serena steps on Molly's foot and Molly screams. "Don't do that!" "Well, you were too close!" "grr..." they give each other the evil eye. "I don't have to work with you!" screams Molly. She walks out...

Serena sits downstairs with her family, watching TV. She is depressed. Then her father sees an animal act on TV. "I don't know how they can get that monkey to do that!" Serena stands up. "Dad, you're brilliant!" she shouts, looking at Luna. "I can be a superstar!" She grabs Luna and goes up to her room..."Serena, cats weren't meant to sing and dance!" shouts the cat. She had been doing Molly's part of the routine. "If you can talk, you can dance!" shouts Serena. Luna sighs...

meanwhile, Melvin rings Molly's doorbell. "Molly! It's you know who! About the secret meeting! That you couldn't tell me about on the phone!" Molly lets him in. She puts him in a skirt and top with lipstick - "You're perfect! Listen. We're going to do rock videos!" says Molly. "Really? WOW! I can see my awards speech - thans to my great manager, Molly!" Molly says, "This might work!"...

In a fancy apartment, Saffron steps into a shower. As she enjoys it, a metallic woman creature shoots something out of her mouth! It is this freezing stuff! She covers Saffron with it until she is out cold - literally. She touches Saffron's hand, and in a flash, becomes Saffron - or at least a likeness of her. 'Saffron' laughs an evil laugh...

Downtown, a whole crowd of girls and boys stands around a trailer. Saffron stands, talking into a microphone. "I'm happy to bring you grat news! I'm holding a contest for all of you. You can become superstars just like me! Remember, sign up in teams of two!" Suddenly, a sattellite disk shoots out hypnotic waves. Everyone says, "I want to be just like Saffron!" A policeman and Saffron's agent come over, mad at the commotion. But the waves get to them, and they stand on their heads. "A perfect example!" says Saffron. "We all want to be superstars..."

"Serena, did you hear about Saffron's contest?" says Molly. Another girl says, "You perform a routine in teams of two! The winner gets a contract like Saffron's!" Serena says, "Wow!" Molly laughs, "Remember, you don't have a partner." Melvin comes over. "You mean me?" They all laugh, except Molly. "You WEREN'T supposed to say anything!" Serena and Luna walk over to the tryout. "Serena, I'm not going." Serena is shocked. "WHY!" "Because, we have more impoertant things to do. And besides, show business is too strange, too mysterious." Serena cries and runs away. She is flailing when she sees Darien straight ahead! She ditches into an alley. "I hope he doesn't see me!..."

"Hey Serena!" he says, coming to her. "I'm suprised your not at the talent show. People are over there, making fools of themselves!" Serena huffs, "Well, I have more important things to do, like homework!" Turning away from him, she thinks, "He makes me so mad!" He smiles...

At the tryout, many, MANY people are doing different routines, with the waves pouring down. One group does a routine, and chimes chime. Safforn stamps them. "You're in!" Molly and Melein go. "You're in too! All of you," she says, turning to the crowd, "are in! Come to the South Side Stage tomorrow for the finals!"...

In school the next day, Serena walks in to find everyone practicing routines. "Molly, wanna go out after school?" she asks. "Can't! Busy!" she says. "Finally, all the autograph cards are done!" Melvin says, "We're all gonna be superstars!" They all throw streamers gleefully...

Outside, Serena says to Luna, "I'm glad I'm not trying out. Everyone is acting weird." On a stage outside, Melvin says, "I hope to hear from all of you when we're famous!" OThers say, "You know WE'RE the best! we're gonna win!" A huge commotion breaks out...

Serena and Luna are at the South Side Stage building. "I thought this place closed months ago!" says Serena. Inside, all the people trying out are nervous. Saffron says, "Give lots of energy!" The curtain opens. A disco ball on the celing produces those waves again. The groups all go on, full of energy. (The SM song "I Wanna Be a Star" plays, then stops.) Saffron twists a pin on her dress and says, "Now lets get some energy!"...

Serena looks inside the room and says, "What are those?", looking at the white waves. Luna says, "Energy waves." The people inside begin to faint. Saffron turns around and says, "Can I help you?" She has the face of the monster! Serena turns, screams and hides in the bathroom. "Serena, you must beocme Sailor Moon!" shouts Luna. "BUt I'm too scared!" "Think of all your friends in there, Serena!" Serena comes out of the stall. "Ok, if I have to..."

"Moon Prism POWER!" And Serena once again transforms into Sailor Moon, champion of justice! Inside, the last performer (Melvin) has fainted. But suddenly, the curtains all close. "Who's there?" shouts Saffron. "I won't let you hurt my friends!" The lights go out. A spotlight shines on one person - "I am Sailor Moon!" She goes through her speech, but Saffron is not impressed. Ripping off the dress she was wearing, she becomes the evil metallic monster! "I'm not afraid of yoou!" says Sailor Moon. But the monster shoots the freezing stuff at her, and she screams...

The monster is above the seats, looking for her. Sailor Moon is crawling between the seats. To us, the viewers, she says, "If you see Luna tell her I could use her help!" Moon stands up to collect her bearing. But the monster sees her! She shoots out the freezing stuff - and soon Sailor Moon is completely frozen! All seemes lost...

but a rose shatters the ice! "Tuxedo Mask!" shouts Sailor Moon. "Anytime, Sailor Moon!" He dashes off. "Who is that guy! I'd better find out." says the monster, who folllows him. But Sailor Moon will stop her - "Moon Tiara Vaporize! Be banished forever!" And using the tiara, the monster shatters into pieces! The energy that was collected returned. Jedite in the Negaverse is mad...but everyone who fainted is back on their feet!...

That night, Serena is in her PJ's. "What a week!" Luna smiles and says, "Now, why don't you use that energy...and study?" Serena gasps. "Study? NO!"...
