Part 1
Chapter 5: *~*~* Party After Party *~*~* (Part 1/3) (Lidia) June 7th, 1997 *still being worked on and not all added* After a few months of non stop working and little sleep, well less then they used to get made Jess, Ali, Lid, Lyss, and Ames decide that it was time to take a day or two off work and have a little fun. They were turning old before their time by not doing the normal teen and early twenties stuff, like clubs, parties, movies hanging out with your best mates. It was time to get back to their old lives for a few days before continuing the hectic schedule theyd acquired. Amy out of the blue rings each girl up when she knew they would be home not giving a damn about what time it was. Each week, each girl found the time to write up a copy of her work schedule for the others, and you wouldnt believe how many Do you know what time it is? and Im sleeping damn you! I work. Amy had gotten before the night was through. But once she was finished shed convinced her mates to take the same two days off of each job so they could spend some times together. Well by the time that Tuesday and Wednesday rolled around they were more than ready for it. And Amys plan? A house party (more like a mansion party) up in Kingsworth to the wee hours of the night then spend the rest of the next day recovering. And thats what happened; they took the hour and a half drive up to Kingsworth, and spent another hour finding the residence of the bash. Yet from the moment they got out of the car Jess observed something a little different with Amy.. She seemed looser and more daring than she had ever been and a dead tip off that something was up was Amys coffee hair teased up in every direction like a bride of some ghoul. And teasing her hair to such an extent was something she always refused to do even for costume parties! Along with the corset tank top she had on she flat out didnt look like Amy Ferguson. Jess got the feeling that there would be trouble this night, and that she should keep an eye on her mate. Jess pulled Ali aside and whispered, Keep an eye on Ames. Ali was about to ask why, but got a look from Jess which made her shut her mouth in a flash understanding. Wildly Amy screamed like a mad woman and burst through the front door. How she had gotten through all the cars so fast was beyond everyones comprehension. That should have tipped the group off to head home, even though they had dolled themselves up just for this. Yet they were sure she would calm down as the night progressed, so just followed the easiest trial up to the house, led by Mummy Ali herself. The music was loud, the speakers were big, the house was shaking, bodies were dancing, every few minutes you could see couples sneaking upstairs or jumping in spacious linen closets, and the alcohol was abundant. *~* Some time later *~* After an hour Alyssa had given up the dance war to keep her body moving, three times already shed been offered an already poured drink that she dare not accept, and she couldnt see her mates anywhere. Not putting it past one or two of them to have met some bloke and sauntered upstairs, or maybe theyd gone for a dip in the pool or who knew!? All Alyssa knew was that she couldnt find them, she was ready to leave, she didnt want to spend another minute here, and she didnt feel like getting drunk. She plopped down on an empty couch and shed been looking everywhere in and out of the house that she dared and had been cornered by a strange man upstairs for about a minute. That is until a red head walked out of a room and he followed, leaving Alyssa alone. Alyssa sighed and took another look around from her new position on the couch. She gladly would have gone to the car and maybe gotten some sleep. But Jess had taken the keys from Amy before the girl got lost in the crowd of drinking, falling over, and dancing people. Lyss leaned on her right hand just as someone crash-landed on the couch and a head fell into her lap. She was just about to shriek, but a female voice set her even more off course then she already was. You as ready to leave as I am, Lyssia? The girl questioned her speech barely slurred as she looked up at her landing pad. She instantly reminded Alyssa of a small child, and she smiled slightly. Oh yeah, this just isnt my scene anymore. Alyssa replied while looking down at Ali, and began to play with her hair. Uh, Lyss no offence, but this was never your scene, hon. Both girls began laughing and Alyssa agreed. True, Mummy Ali. All too truedo - you wonder where they all are? She asked suddenly. Ali just sighed as she looked at what was going on around her a sight she didnt plan on seeing again. Half filled cups of booze of all sorts, cans and bottles scattered, crushed popcorn and chips mashed into the carpet, a bra hanging off the television set, food scattered everywhere, drunk and passed out people their age showered all over the place, others grinding and the party was still just getting started. Had she too out grown these adolescent and foolish things? It was not that long ago she had gotten drunk with some mates and disturbed the peace then she still thought it was loads of fun. Maybe this soon to be accomplished venture to the United States and to their future had made them mature? She couldnt be sure; Ali had already had quite a bit to drink and was a bit wobbly on her feet not to mention wobbly lying down on the couch. No, not really. Just the wild ones, the maniac is fine no doubt. Can handle herself, she can. Ali answered, a little out of touch with the world, due to feeling a bit sloshed. If her parents were to dare find out about this theyd murder her no doubt. Alyssa nodded her head lifelessly, wanting desperately for a pillow and a nice, quiet, little nook to curl up in. Right again. Maniac Jess can handle any bloody thing that comes her way. You remember how she dealt with that James character? Pure genius, lovely boy he was thoughif it hadnt been for him liking Jess and the other way around I would have been all over him. Yet thats what he gets when he suddenly pulls trick I think the term is and becomes an arse to a girl. Pure genius, if I do say so. And the wild and crazy kids? No worries bout Lids, I think shes hung up her wild ways for good. But Ames shes competing against God knows what a title? If she wants to be the rebel of our little group then thats what she is, Lidias long since retired and all, no point in the girl fighting the one way battle so hard. Well thats how it looks anyway. Alyssa spoke her mind in a mouthful, then sighed wondering how they had gotten on the topic. She was just about to start up again when Ali abruptly interrupted. I just saw her a moment ago doing one of those weird drinking games in the kitchen. Alyssa almost jumped up off the couch. She stared at her mate surprise. Who? Lidia?? Ali gave a chuckle as she rolled over a bit and was now laying on her back, instead of cuddling up to Lyss. Goodness no! Im talking about Amy, you silly girl. The two exchanged a look the moment Ali realised what she was saying. This was becoming just so clich. Dragging the group off to a boozing no brainer party in the middle of something big and hectic, then the wild one which currently was Amy ends up in the kitchen playing a insipid drinking game. For who knows what reason, it seemed their beloved Ames was trying to outdo her mate. Lidia had already retired for quite a while now and grew-up so the title was already officially Amys. Was she trying to live up to it or something, or be better at it than the person before her? It wasnt right, but what would it take? Just then Jess fell over the couch and onto Ali, I want to go home. She whined while chucking the car keys to Alyssa. *~* Outside on the front steps *~* Well, well, well look who we have here. A bloke said slyly as he came upon Lidia sitting out on the steps lazily holding a half empty beer bottle by the neck. She froze completely at the sound of his voice, and didnt even dare to look at him. Through clenched teeth Lidia suddenly seethed with long since died anger and resentment, What do you want, James? Aww, is that anyway to greet an old mate, Lidia? I would have thought youd learned some manners by now. Lidia shot to her feet and spun on her heels, fire blazing concealed beneath the coat of blue in her eyes. You are no mate of mine, James you never were! And I warn you it best you leave before anyone else from our group sees you. James Warner laughed deeply with a laugh that had once sent goose bumps everywhere, but now just sent a shiver of disgust. Why would you make me leave, Lidia? Are you trying to tell me, my prize is here as well? His voice reached to a possessive pitch that was heavily coated with wickedness. Without thinking Lidia took two steps forward, soon closing the distance between them, shoving him so violently that he landed on his backside with a load thud. Dont you dare go near her! Fore I swear, this time around I will kill you myself if no one will help! She whispered load enough for him to hear her hushed vow. James didnt rise to his feet to continue what he had instigated; just staid in the position she had pushed him to not daring even to blink. Because it was clearshe meant what she said, and for a moment James thought he saw a woman that had died years ago leaving a placid being in its place. Lidia must have realised it as well because her eyes shut tightly for a moment, and shook her head. Lidia turned her back on the monster that had caused her mate so much grief, took her beer from the steps then headed back inside with a parting shot. Leave while you can, Warnernext time I wont let you off. *~* Back inside the mansion*~* Believing that it was time to put an end to more than James Warners existence Lidia strode back toward the kitchen. She heard a shriek from the living room, but the noise from the kitchen caught her attention all the more. Lidia walked in to come upon a sight of a hoard of blokes standing around as if to crowd a circle for a show. A high pitched muffled cry came from within the circle, but was barely audible above all the noise being caused by the spectators. Hoots and yelling from the half drunken men and even some woman came as well as cheers. Lidia grabbed the nearest person to her that happened to be a red headed girl. Whats going on? Sex show. Didnt you know? At the moment of the girls answer Lidia heard Jess voice behind her. Lidia? Lidia turned around to find a horrified expression on her mates face. Alyssa and Ali stood behind Jess, looking equally terrified. It took but a moment for Lidia to realise their thoughts, and before anyone could say or do a thing a high pitched scream erupted from the circle. Oh God! Lidia just about screamed worriedly as she began to charge straight through the mass while the others tried to get around from other sides. The spectators, unwilling to move and let the girls pass were soon getting the urge to say ouch. Getting frustrated and adrenalin pumping so hard from fretting and not being able to get through the circle that their brains felt like they were going to explode the four mates began to punch and kick anything in their way. Even Alyssa kneed an angry spectator between the legs when he turned to her and looked as if he wanted to throw her out the nearest window. Ali, becoming unbelievably violent as if taking her nick name Mummy Ali more to heart then ever she looked like an angry mother out to protect her child. Jess was the first to make it through the crowd and almost died of fright! Her voice was caught in her throat and she froze. Alyssa crawled between the legs of a few and made it into the circle as second. Upon seeing the same as Jess had, just from a different angle Alyssa let out the loudest words anyone would ever hear her say as she screamed at the top of her lungs. Dear Lord AMY! Alyssa scrambled to her feet, but reaching a standing position in time to see their eldest Lidia doing the job she had never got around to doing. Lidia knocked the bloke off of Amy, while he still tugged helplessly at her corset, unable to get it undone. The bloke fell from the counter hard. Alyssa took to Amy, helping her down as Amy began to bawl uncontrollably. The sight of the corrupt fellow falling from the counter and hammering to the floor brought Jess back to her senses, and she dove for him with intentions to murder. Jess and Lidia jumped him at roughly the same time, thrashing him good. While this began the crowd just stared, as Ali finally joined them within the circle. Alyss and Ali began to lead Amy away, but no one moved to let them pass. Jess came to her senses suddenly and stepped back from the bleeding, battered and now unconscious bloke she and Lidia had been pounding on. Jess had to pull Lidia away, it took Jess a minute or so to notice it but something besides what had just happened to Amy had her mate riledand she was taking that out on the lowly pathetic jerk, who was comatose at their feet. She pulled Lidia in the direction of their mates, just in time to catch Alis fury in full swing. Move now! You filthy drunkards should all be ashamed! Standing around and hollering during a horrifying crime watching instead of helping an innocent girl! That got to them, it got to them all. Immediately a path was cleared and the group headed for the door. Two minutesthree minutes.ticking like a time bomb in Alyssas head. She had a weary feeling that they needed to leave, and they need to leave nowbefore something else happened. It was the same feeling she had before she had gone on the hunt for her matesthat was over an hour ago, but at least the group was complete. They came to the door, Jess leading the way and Lidia bringing up the rear. They just about made it to the front entrance that was about to serve as their exit, when suddenly a figure ran passed in front and Jess was gone. The figure had been male, and all were confused, except Lidia. Warner! She let out almost inaudible half in a grumble half in a mumble. There was a slamming of a doorthen silence the music even switched off for a quick CD set change. The girls came to a dead halt with the sudden actionLidia stepped around to face Amy, the strongest mentally, left among them. But she was impaired after what had just happened to her. Ali was too motherly to go through with what Lidia had planned, and Alyssajust too fragile. Ames, you need to listen to me, darling. I need strong bad ass Amy can you be her? Lidia asked getting straight to the point. Amy looked up at her, mascara running down her cheeks, before whispering. Why? Because James is about. And Im betting the bloke that just ran by and snagged Jess, was good old James. Alis eyes went wide, in disbelief. How do you figure that?! Lidia sighed and rolled her eyes. Because I had a bit of a run in with him out on the front steps before I came about to find the dandy mess that happen and then that happened because of it in the kitchen. I warned him that I would slaughter him if he went near her. Told the stupid bloke that I wouldnt let him off this time and damn it I wont! And I need your help to do that, Amy! That grimy bugger! Ill beat him senseless, I will! Amy screamed the fire and spunk back in her. The near abuse of her person in front of an audience of drunkards was forgotten. But the fury of the past was not. *~* Inside the library *~* Jess didnt even have the time to let out a scream. Before she knew it she had arms around her waist and was whisked down a hall and into a room, the door slamming behind her and her abductor. The moment those thick arms with their tight hold on her mid-section fell away practically dropping her, Jess spun around. An involuntary gasp escaped her lips. Jess got sharp pangs at the back of her eyes, as if a fire burned and she was holding back tears she didnt even feel in her eyes. There was no rush of fear, as there had once been, for some time. There was just strong resentment, and a need to relieve her need for pay back for all he had done her. One movement that would bring the wretched ogre to his knees. You dont seem pleased to see me. James chirped, as if they were in the middle of some great love affair and hed been gone a bit, this being his return. There was a hint of dejection in his voice. Jess, didnt care the least, because she knew it was fake. And why would I be? Hmmm? Why in Gods name would I be pleased to see aaa MONSTER like yourself?! Jess had fumbled with her words, trying to find one to fit what he was. There was no such word. She settled on monster and began heaving. James eyes turned cold, a sight that used to send her running to hide because she knew he would beat her. But now, she dared him she DARED him to TRY! Watch your words, Jessica or Ill James began his threat, but Jess wouldnt let him finish, let him think he had any power over the situation. Or youll what, James?! Beat me? Thrash me something good? Or maybe youll try and take me in anger? Or just maybe take a belt to my face and body again?! She threw out a few of his old threats and a deed more of crime he had committed to her person with something that should be used as a piece of clothing not a weapon. Guilt washed over his face, but soon faded to a look of scorn. For a moment Jess thought he might once again be capable of emotion, but that glimmer of hope faded as fast as if had appeared. But all emotions love, compassion, and kindness had died the day his ruthlessness reared its head. Or maybe it this was his true self. Not the prince charming she had once loved. I can do more than that, you spoiled little princessIve missed you, Jess. How about we have a little funfor old times sake? He tone changed like a light switch, from menacing to arousal. James took a step toward her, his hands outstretched for her chest. Anger grew rapidly inside of her; she knew that if she didnt do something right now she would be helpless. Jess already knew no one at this party would help her if she screamedno one had helped her Amy after all. She wasnt even sure if her mates had seen what room this tyrant had dragged her into. With one swift swing, her fist made contact with his nose. Blood spurted; he cried out in pain, he fell to his knees in front of her. You bloody bitch! Whatd you do that for? I dont fear you anymore, James. Nor do I love you an ounce after what you put me through. You dont have any control over me anymore. Itll be best if you truly leave me alone this time. Jess warned, truthfully and for the first time without backing down. James snarled. Ah, making threats. Just like that bitch Lidia. Jess had turned to leave, but spun back around on that remark. Wot do you mean? Stupid whore threatened my life if I went near you. She smiled smugly. I could have done the same. It is after all not in the best interest of your health to bother me or my mates! Jess spun on her heals and exited the room with a slam of the door. Not one frightening face but two ready for battle girls about to charge into the room were there to greet Jess on her departure of the room. They stopped in their tracks, and Jess quickly removed the quite startled look from her face. You alright? Amy enquired, a bit sheepishlynot too sure herself why. Jess nodded, her face expressionless as she broke into a brisk walk, which took her mates some long strides to catch up to her. We were on our way in to help you out. Lidia offered when they were outside, walking down the steps the cool breeze hitting them like a slap in the face. Jess didnt even turn her head to acknowledge that something was said to her when she repliedher voice plain and simple. There was no need. I took care of it. At that moment Alyssa pulled up with the car and Ali stepped out opening both passenger side doors. Both pair of eyes were set on Jess, questioning her of her wellness. But it was Amy who voiced their curiosity. So what happened? I broke his nose. Jess replied merely, not an ounce of anger remainingmuch less remorse. Said as if shed actually said I bought some cheese. She took a seat in the back, then scooted over by the drivers side as she questioned. So who had how much to drink this evening and who would be able to pass a breathalyzer test? Each girl eyed the others, all not sure how to answer their mates question. Well I had a beer and a half glass screwdriverso Im not fit to drive the distance home. Jess offered when no one said a word. Then the answers poured out at once. Amy: Vodka during Alphabet, Tequila during the body shots, some whisky and I think one beer. Ali: Beer, Bourbon, and some Teachers came my way. Rancid stuff it is! Lidia: Teachers been rancid from the day it was first created, Al. Oh, had me two beers. Lyss: Not a thing, just tired. All had a look at AlyssaMiss Innocent hadnt even touched some Vodka? Wow, a real improvementSilence fell upon the group. Ali rolled her eyes and slurred a bit, Alyssa! Tallyho chauffer, I could rummage the trunk and maybe find you a black cap. Alyssa took the hint and ran around the car to the drivers seat as her mates piled in. *~* Forty Minutes Later *~* *get pulled over by the cops.
Part 2
Chapter 5: *~*~* Party After Party *~*~* (Part 2/3) (Lidia) July 20th, 1997 Finally a certain day had arrivedone that called for celebration like many before it. It was the 20th of Julymeaning Lidias twenty-third birthday, something she had been dreading for quite some time now. From the moment she woke up and went downstairs, she had a glance at the calendar and groaned. But when her grandmum didnt say her regular birthday wishes to her, Lidia knew something was wrong. It was a regular routine, when she came downstairs on her birthday she got a hug from her grandmum and Grams would say her usual birthday wishes. But nothing, it was like some ordinary day. Were her eyes playing tricks on her? Maybe it was the 19th, she looked at the calendar again, nope the 20th - but no birthday wishes in three different languages. She sighed, grabbed some toast and headed out to work. But once out the door, she smacked herself in the forehead and headed back in, gave Grams a hug and headed out again. She stopped short in the drive when she realized her car wasnt there. ANDREW!! Lidia screeched, and her cousin stuck his head out of his bedroom window above the garage. He waved thinking she wanted to say bye to him before leaving for work. Where the hell is my car?! Tell me before I come up there and kill you! I told you over a million times not to take my car! Now where the hell is it?! He got such a shock that he hit his head on the window, that wasnt open properly. Andrew could see she was seriously upset she was never one to threaten anothers life, he just pointed across the street and there stood Lidias car. She glared at him. Andrew gave a weak smile, wondering what would posses his baby cousin to use the word kill. Park it in the driveway you, oaf! Thats what its there for! To park cars in it. If it wasnt then we wouldnt have one. With that she stalked off and got into her car. He watched as she drove off. An evil smirk spread across his face, Happy birthday, kiddo. Its gonna be one youll never forget. He sighed, before heading back into his room. Lidia pulled into the back parking lot of Scotts Hardware and Sainsberies. She headed into Sainsberries, it was most likely the largest food store they had in Brightgate. She worked her shift at the register, than headed next door to Scotts Hardware. Wound up having to spend six hours there instead of four, because the next person was late in relieving her. The switch was to have happened at two oclock, but wound up happening at four instead. Yet by the time she clocked out it was 4:30..the person she was switching with, Geoff, was a moron. He needed general instruction every time he came to work. Now she was late for her third job, and that wasnt good. She stopped for gas than headed toward Elton. She fell through the pub door at 5:23, seven minutes to spare. Her day couldnt get any worse right? Wrong. Four bar fights, someone spilt their drink on her, some bloke fell on her and the skirt of her waitressing uniform ripped slightly, and then she was forced on stage because an act didnt show up. It was her birthday, and no one seemed to remember. When Allison showed up a little while after her, not a word besides Hi. Was she the only one who knew it was her own birthday? Probably. And then to make things even worse Ali had to leave early, and Lidia had to take over for her. But when eight oclock slowly approach she eagerly counted the agonizing minutes. At the stroke of eight she was out of there like a shot. Lidia had work fourteen hours that day, not counting the hours it took her to drive from one place to another. Now the agony was over with, she could just go home and put her feet up. Its not like anyone remember it was her birthday anyway. *~*~* Madison Home *~*~* Lidia pulled up into the driveway, and immediately noticed that the house was dark. Pitch black, not a single light. She got out, pain shooting through her feet as they touched the pavement. As she walked up to the front door she started mumbling out load. Great, Grams out with Hutchie again no doubt. Satan Child, who knows and cares? Jeeze, not even my mates remembered it was my birthday not even Grams! What is twenty-three too old to celebrate now? Gosh. She trailed off as she unlocked the door. As soon as Lidia stepped into the hallway a bright light flicked on and tons of people yelled, SURPRISE! Lidia looked around in aww, truly not knowing what to say. Ali, her sworn enemy for life walked over and gave her a hug. Something the two hadnt shared in years. Thought we forgot, ay? Not bloody likely! Laughter erupted and the party began. Lidia mentally hit herself over the head for even thinking that they could forget her birthday. Everyone was there, even Mr. Hutchie, Grams boyfriend. Obviously, Hutchie whisked Grams off her feet and they danced the night away. And for once Lidia was actually pleased to have old Hutch around.at around midnight or one the cops showed up at the residence. It will truly be a moment to remember with laughter.
Part 3
Chapter 5: *~*~* Party After Party *~*~* (Part 3/3) (Lidia) September 18th, 1997 *~*~* Madison Home*~*~* August had come and gone and now it was September, and the girls had more than enough money for their tickets. Heck, the tickets had already been bought, and they had so much left over.the first thing they planned to do when they got to America was hit the shops. They tried to imagine how it would be there. Uncle Jack told Lidia when she called to tell him that they had enough money that they should try to get tickets to Oregon on November 2nd. He didnt explain why, and Lidia didnt ask. She was informed that theyd be dancers for a boyband, and if their choreographer thought they were any good theyd become the back up dancers the girls that danced WITH the band. But there job as dancers for the band was sealed shut either way. She found out that their choreographers name was Fatima Robinson and that she was VERY good, and was also the choreographer for the boyband. He didnt tell her the name of the band, but told her to give him a ring when the tickets were settled. The tickets had been purchased on September 16th for November 2nd. But now the girls and their families gathered as one big family in Grandmum Victorias home. Not a soul was left out or missing. Everyone from the girls to their parents to their siblings, and even Mr. Hutchie had found himself there again a house full of twenty three people. They were toasting the girls hard work and the trip and future that lie ahead of them. But Grams, after a few glasses of champagne, made a certain comment that should have been left unsaid or almost everyone there agreed. She said it with the best of intentions, but didnt quite work.even though it had been so long the wounds had still not healed. Charles and Kathryn would have been so proud of you, Love. Grams said to Lidia, referring to her parents. Lidia gave a fake smile, hiding her true feelings than slipped out of the front room. Her mates knew only too well what was wrong, but only Jess slipped out after her, as not to cause a scene. Jess found her upstairs starring out her bed room window. Lid? Its been almost foreveryou need to let it go. Jess said after entering the room unnoticed. Lidia turned around to look at the younger girl. Sixteen years just about. But I have long since let go, Jessi. Theyre dead by the hands of anotheralmost two decades ago. They no longer haunt me. Butit still pains me when I remember them. Jess crossed the room and wrapped her arms around one of her dearest mates. Lidia couldnt help getting lost in the familiarity of this act they shared too often, but not enough. Lidia didnt cry as she would have in the past, much to Jess surprise to find her shoulder dry. Aww, Lidia. They will always be with you in the best of ways, but its good that youve let go. Their suicides only took their lives, not yoursits more than time you lived it. Lidia swallowed hard. Jess was right, but not about everything. A confounded newspaper had reported her parents deaths as suicide all those years ago, even though more than not knew it had not been so. Jess and the others just preferred to call it that rather than the more horrifying truth. Lidia bit her tongue as not to say what neither of them wanted to hear. The truth. Let the dead lie in peace, Lidia thought, as they both headed back down stairs to rejoin the festivities of their last full family gathering before their departure for America. They all had secretssome that people knew others that were kept hidden. But if something happens and you just dont get over it, thats ok, things happen. Cos life goes onright?
