"Power of the Past"
Our First Show
November 4, 2000
The first show for the newly formed Power of the Past club was held
November 4, 2000, at the Calcasieu-Cameron fairgounds in Sulphur, LA.
Though rain was threatening from the west, spirits were not dampened
and in fact the rain held off for the whole day. Tractors and engines
continued to come in well into mid-morning and when all was said and
done there were a total of 44 tractors and 48 engines displayed.
A total of 189 carloads of people paid to see the show.
The morning events consisted of a piston toss, skillet toss, barrel
roll, slow race, as well as rice milling, corn grinding, and log sawing
demonstrations. Additionally, there were antique cars, scooters, bikes,
wagons, etc., etc. The main event of the afternoon was the tractor pull,
starting promptly at 12:00 noon.

Best restored tractor: Kurt Bruchhaus
Best unrestored tractor: Jim Foreman
Best restored engine: Gary Richardson
Best unrestored engine: Raymond Bradley
Piston toss winner: James Faulk
Skillet toss winner: Penny Lantier
Rim roll winner: Monty Lantier
Egg crack winner: Chris Litteral
Slow race winner: Jack Robinson
Barrel roll winner: Kurt Bruchhaus
Seven new members signed up at the show for a total of 38 members.
A special thanks goes to Glen McConnel, Jim Foreman, Bo Hinch, Ken Vincent, and
numerous other club members who made the day a great success.
