Product Reviews

Enjoy some of the best products which I have personally reviewed with my own family at home, and have written about for the web site. These products are from wonderful businesses dedicated to families who practice breastfeeding, co-sleeping, alternative diapering &  attachment parenting/natural living.

A Toy Garden.com (natural toys and items)

This is a really great site filled with amazing natural and unique products.  They offer homemade toys, dolls, puzzles, children's kitchens/furniture,  arts and crafts, baby items and gifts and more! It is a vibrant site and this doll pictured is just one of many beautiful creations. I particularly was drawn to this (pictured) one and just purchased it for my future doula business. The doll  actually is more of a teaching doll that allows the baby doll to be born vaginally or via C-section, and it can be snapped to the breast for breastfeeding. It is attached to a placenta and cord. Everyone should have this doll when trying to teach older siblings about impending births within the family. My own daughter said she cannot wait to try this one out! This site is worth a visit.

Little Showoffs

This is a great site! They create wonderful advocacy shirts in all sizes, babies, toddlers, children, and parents! The shirts are soft and comfortable, I was sent the one shown here that says GOT SLEEP? and it fits great and looks good. They also make organic advocacy shirts, and some of the sayings are Attachment Parent, Still breastfeeding, Attached baby, yoga baby and more! I say have a peek and grab a shirt. You're getting a well made product and you can promote the wonderful parenting styles you believe in at the same time!

SnuggleWool.com

This company makes wonderful soft lush wool products. I was sent a gorgeous toddler blanket, which my 18 month old took to very quickly. The top is 100% merino wool, plush, safe, breathable. Underneath is a cotton print. You can get baby blankets of all sizes, mattress pads, car seat covers, crib pads and more. I highly recommend trying these. I love the feel of the blanket we received, and I have researched how wool is safer for babies, they can rest comfortably and breathe easily. Also wetness wicks away from skin, it stays warm in winter and cool in summer.

  TenderCare Diapers

These are wonderful chemical free disposable diapers! I found them to be better than regular disposable and helped me transition to cloth diapering. I had no idea such products even existed, as we are drawn to the commercial ads for name brand regular diapers (disposables). These fit so nicely, held in wetness wonderfully. And they are just plain better for the environment than regular disposables. If you choose NOT to cloth diaper, you should still have a choice to have better for your baby and your environment. These are great!

 Mother-ease Cloth Diapers

Very nice cloth diapers and covers! I got to try a few different sizes and styles. I loved the company, as they were very willing to work with me to get the right type of fit etc. I did find for myself personally that the fit was a bit bulky but as anyone who cloth diapers knows, that is about choice NOT product. I currently continue to use the diaper covers now with my prefolds. They work very well!

The Amby Bed

What can I say but this product beats ANY crib or bassinet hands down! We LOVED ours, and our baby enjoyed her time in it. Even though we didn't get her into one until she was 4 months old, she quickly adjusted to it. It is just an amazing bed that does what it says. The rocking motion is a very nice addition and soothes the baby back to sleep. Our cat actually would walk by and his tail would swing her back to sleep. We had so many comments from visiting friends on what it was and requests to try it out! You must have this!

Heart 2 Heart Slings

I can say nothing but wonderful things about these slings! They are my first choice in slings and I learned how to wear my children in Heart 2 Heart slings. I use mine everywhere and the ease of use is amazing! I strongly suggest everyone own one. The owner is a wonderful woman I've had contact with over the years who even sent me another video when she found out I gave  mine out to another mama upon buying her Heart2Heart sling.

Rainbow Treasures

This business sent me a cute and very well made children's apron. I had been searching for one and could not find anything that was not just well made but sized properly. My daughter loves it and uses it often. She actually wore it to school one day when they had school be-a-grown-up-for-a-day day. She said she was a cook/baker and was quite proud to wear it all day. These are reversible as well, and the designs are beautiful.

Diaperaps (cloth diapers)

These are well made diapers/covers for all your cloth diapering needs. This was my introduction into using prefolds. I had no idea what prefolds were or how to use them, but these came with the prefold and cover (Velcro closure) and a great instructional pamphlet teaching me what I needed to know. I would easily suggest trying their diapers. They were also great in their email and phone communications with me.

Diaperingdecisions.com  (cloth diapers)

Very nice products! Great for starting your cloth diaper stash. The diapers here were thick and lush and while a tad bulky they held wetness in well. Again a matter of preference but I appreciated the contact and enjoyed using this diaper. The covers were well made and fit really well. That was important to me as I was new to cloth diapering and unsure of myself. Great contact with them as well in figuring out what to get and what I needed.

Mother Nurture Spiritual Midwifery (spiritual/meditative care)

Peggy Comella is a wonderful advisor! I suggest any mama in any stage of motherhood or life give her a call/email her for advice, help and more. It was comforting to chat via email and give my situation and to quickly receive a very long and amazingly well defined explanation about how I view the world, how I affect my relationships and parenting. I really got a good look into myself from Peggy's kindness and great empathy. I would send anyone to her easily, as she is very good at what she does. All women need this sort of thing.

Decentexposures.com (clothing)

These bras are SO comfortable! I received one in hot pink and had no idea I'd even want to wear that colour, but wow! I LOVED IT! The material is so soft and comfortable, and it actually fit me better than any bra yet, to this day. The arm straps don't hurt, they sit perfectly on your shoulder, and the cup area is set nice and gives you a great lift! I suggest you pick one up! It was very easy to nurse in, the Velcro closures at the straps are super easy to take off and on. They sell other items as well, and I will most likely buy more. You can't beat that fit.

Moby Wrap (carrier)

Very neat carrier! Once you get used to getting it on it is nice. It does take a bit of learning, because it is so amazingly versatile in that you can wear it in so many different ways. The colours are wonderful, I had a navy blue. The fabric is rich and soft. Once you get the hang of getting it on and getting baby into it, it works very well. I've talked to many mothers who swear by their Moby's. The baby gets a very snug ride.

Over The Shoulder Baby Holder (sling)

I was sent one of these and love it! I use it around the house often and when out. The fabric is soft and padded with comfort. I find it very versatile and comfortable. It is very secure and easy to handle getting baby in and out of. The rings on this sling I find are really easy to maneuver, which isn't always the case in slings. It was easy to learn to use as well, and comes with an instructional video.

Herbanmama.com (slings)

I was sent a lovely sling made of hemp and it was very nicely made. I found it a bit tough to maneuver at first but was told to handle it more and it softens up which is true. The colour was a gorgeous brown/gold and it had a pocket on the side which I think every sling/carrier MUST have! So convenient. This mama sells some great natural stuff not just slings!

Avent Naturally (pumps and bottles)

These are truly must have products for any breastfeeding family. The pumps are to me by far the best out there. With my first child I had used a cheap electric pump thinking because it was electric it would help me express more milk, which was very far from the truth. This pump, manual (Avent Isis) is the most amazing product I've ever tried. I was easily able to express large amounts of milk within minutes. I have since made certain my friends buy one. Avent makes a wide range of products, such as baby bottles with specially designed nipples to be better for the breastfeeding relationship if you must use a bottle with your baby. I suggest all Avent products.

The Breast Bottle

Interesting product idea...Adiri's Breastbottle® nurser was created to imitate a mother's breast as closely as possible, providing the soft, full breast contour and warm facial contact which is  important to the baby for sensory reasons. It is a very sophisticated design that the company states" addresses issues of colic and infant obesity with bubble-free delivery, breast-like portion size and a patented adjustable nipple". I found it a bit hard to clean but overall a nice bottle. It does what it says. I know many moms who have used this and enjoy it, as do their nurslings.

Nursingmamas.com

Wonderful products! I was sent a beautiful long ankle length nursing dress in a gorgeous sage green colour. The fabric was just so nice, soft yet sturdy. The quality of their clothing is obviously very high. I was impressed to be sent this dress which unfortunately didn't fit me properly, however I also received a nursing sleeveless black top to try out and I loved that! I wear it often even in cooler months. It hangs nicely, has zippers on the sides as their other items do, which facilitate easy access in any nursing situation. They are simple but pretty pieces of clothing. Formerly Co-Nursing Wear.

Canadian Childbirth Teaching Aids

Wonderful products!  I was sent a wealth of products to sample which I intend to keep and purchase. A tummy Tub, an innovative bathtub that is shaped as a deep cup, with non slip bottoms and the baby floats in it. Takes getting used to but neat idea and concept. I also received the books Mother's milk and Medications by Thomas Hale MD and Spiritual Midwifery by Ina May Gaskin. Wonderful reads. As well, videos for breastfeeding and birth, and some chocolates to top it all off! Needless to say you can truly find everything you need here. I certainly did!

Glamourmom.com

These nursing tops are well made and very nice. I love the fabric a soft cotton with lycra stretch to it. I did have a bit of trouble squeezing into mine in the breast area even though I had a large size, and the slats did not match up with my own nipple area for ease in nursing, but overall a pretty nice tank top.

Lotusbody.com

I tried the baby rash rump butter which is great for baby bums. It smells yummy and is great for daily use. The web sites states" No petroleum products are ever used (mineral oil, petroleum jelly) and no artificial fragrance oils that can irritate the skin and mucous membranes. All natural, mostly organic, and pure, pure, pure."  Personally I love that, as I am opposed to using anything medicated on my own children unless medically it is required. They offer a wide range of other products as well, Lotus baby line, birth line, love line (sexy!) lip balms, bath salts and healing salves. If you enjoy pampering yourself or your babies, and want a more natural product, try these!
