Buttermilk Biscuits

Granny says: "If you don't have any buttermilk, you can put a tablespoon of vinegar in a cup of sweet milk."

Ingredients:

� 2 cups flour
� 1 tablespoon baking powder
� � teaspoon salt
� � teaspoon baking soda
� 3 tablespoons shortening
� 1 cup buttermilk

Preparation:

Sift together the dry ingredients. Add the shortening and cut in until it resembles coarse sand. Add the buttermilk and mix to form a dough. Turn out on a floured board and knead for 1 minute. Roll out to � inch thick and cut with a biscuit cutter. Bake on an ungreased baking sheet in a 400-degree oven for 12 to 14 minutes.
