Parents Without Partners, Inc. is an international non profit, non sectarian, educational organization devoted to the welfare and interest of single parents and their children. It was incorporated in New York in March 1957 and now has Chapters in every state in the union, as well as Canada and Austrailia. The Greater New Orleans Chapter 27 reached its charter on August 25, 1960. As conscientious single parents, it is our primary single endeavor to bring our children to healthy maturity with the full sense of being loved, accepted and with the same sense of prospects for adulthood as children who are raised by both parents together. Adult and children in single parent families often face unique and challenging circumstances. For children to mature and flourish in a home with the absence of a parent requires an added measure of love, patience, understanding and sound guidance. To provide these is a a responsibility inherent in parenthood, regardless of martial status. The challenge of providing for not only ourselves, but also providing a nuturing family life for our children is often complicated by established patterns of community life. Consequently, a need for community resources to assist single parents in communicating and meeting their special circumstances exists. Therefore in the conviction that we can acheive this and through working together, exchanging ideasand through mutual understanding , help and companionship which we find in one another, we have established "PARENTS WITHOUT PARTNERS, INC."

WHO IS ELIGIBLE? To quote our by-laws: "To be eligible for membership in Parents Without Partners, a person must be the parent of one or more living sons or daughters and be single by reason of death, divorce, separation, never married or other reasons which may be deemed acceptable by Parents Without Partners International." Custody of children is not a factor of eligibility.
HOW CAN YOU JOIN PARENTS WITHOUT PARTNERS? You must attend an orientation meeting, submit your application with the $37.00 annual dues when you decide to join. membership is provisional until we receive verification of single parent status-this provisional status not to exceed 60 days. We reserve the right to expect professional verification prior to accepting any re-application. Due include International dues and subscriptions to the "Single Parent" magazine, along with the "Jambalaya" newsletter. Annual renewal dues are $37.00.
