| It is hard to believe that we have been in Shanghai for almost 2 years. It was great to be able to meet some of our friends back in Virginia last October. We thank God that He has blessed and protected us for the last 2 years. As some of you would know that last October we went back to Virginia because Ehud had to be interviewed for his US citizenship, and he did pass the interview and was sworn in the next day. Christine still has not received her US citizenship, and unfortunately once again the INS has requested her to get a new fingerprint. We trust in Gods timing He will grant Christine the US citizenship. The most important one is the Heavenly citizenship. The year of 2006 has been eventful. We hosted the 1st Passover Seder in our apartment complex club house, about 60 people attended(both believers and non-believers). We were able to find Matzoh from the Jewish Center in Shanghai, and lamb dishes from Muslim Restaurant. It was a great evening, because we were able to introduce to everyone the Passover meal that Jesus and the Jewish people had, which make the communion more meaningful. The cell group that we host in our apartment is growing also in numbers. Christine has been busy with several ministries. She and several ladies coordinate the children program for the cell group meeting that is hosted in our apartment. She also involves in BSF and teaches toddler class in BSF as well, and also plays keyboard/piano in several church services (Shanghai Community Church English Service). Once a week she volunteers at a local Orphanage. Ehud, as usual busy with work. But he has found time to organize community service program for Cisco employees. He has organized 2 projects working w/ an expat charity group, Clothing Drive for an Orphanage, and Giving Tree for migrant children from poor family. Those activities allow Ehud to share his faith with his colleagues. God always works in mysterious way, because He will open up ways for us to share the Gospel when we offer ourselves for Him to use. We have shared books with bible verses with a Taxi Driver and several colleagues in the office, and also shared the Gospel using EvangeCube. Recently the Oentung family (Ehud, Christine, Timotius and Abigail) took 7 hours train ride to another town to distribute artificial limb to the disabled people. It is a project from the church that we attend. We handed out limbs to 151 people, wheelchairs to 24 people and walking sticks to 11 people. For the year of 2006, the ministry has helped 255 people with limbs, 66 people with wheelchairs and 22 people with walking sticks. Here are some of the picture of our recent activities. |
