An interview with up and coming Canadian indy wrestler, "Red Hot" Ryan Wood
How long have you been wrestling?
Wrestling for 5 years ,but in the business for 6.  I started as a ref.

How would you best describe your wrestling style?
80's style with new school moves.

What has been your biggest acheivement to date?
Wrestling James Gibson on PPV.

What kind of goals have you set for yourself in your career?

Well in all honesty, I had no idea wrestling would turn out like it has for me...I had all my hopes to play baseball full time! I just wanted to be a ref and just be a part of wrestling. Now I have taken on a routine to gain more size,( I'm at 195 right now and want to be 210) and continue working at being the best wrestler I can be!

You have had quite a few matches with Vance Nevada, who by the way trained you, right? Has he been your toughest opponent? If not ,who has been your toughest opponent so far?

Well it is always tough to wrestler your teacher because he knows every move you do, before u do it!!! Vance is a great teacher and very tough opponent but by far my toughest would have to be the newly signed WWE prospect, Kenny Omega.

Who are your biggest rivals?

Kenny Omega and Johnny Devine

You have been in the ring with many great indy wrestlers like Jack Evans,  (your trainer) Vance Nevada, and Johnny Devine. How have wrestling great workers, and being around them , helped your wrestling career?

Johnny Devine has been a wealth of info....He has shown me more in the last year. Just helping with meeting more people in the business, and just stuff about wrestling I had no idea about. He does nothing but bring the best out of people...Vance gave me my start and showed me lots. When he moved away it was kind of like a bro moving. The guy is a canadian indy star .

Do you have a personal favorite match that you have been in, and against whom?

Umm, just recently I had a match with Johnny Devine in Morris Manitoba in front of about 200 fans....We went about 30 mins and the crowd was there the whole match!!! I consider that my most recent "Favorite"....Of course getting in there with the likes of Kidman and Nobel can only help you improve!

You have been recently involved in a new promotion in Canada, the AWE. They are already doing tv taping and as far as I know, they have pay per views in the works in Canada. The promotions roster is loaded and there is high expectations for them. Do you see things taking off the the AWE? How long before it is a major player as a promotion on the wrestling scene?

Tv airs on the fight network and we have had 3 PPV's so far larger then life, harsh reality and umm? one more just cant think right now...a little to early. As long as the high ups in the company, IE management, do this the right way, it will do well. I hope to see AWE at the level of maybe TNA, but thats still a bit away yet...Talent is there no doubt!

What other promotions are you currently working for? Dou you currently hold any or their championships?

Have basically been in winnipeg, but have done stuff in Minnesota the last couple of months, and look to do more in the next few months to get my name out there even more...Spent the summer in Windsor Ontario working out with Border city Wrestling .

If you could have a match with any opponent (past or present), who would you work, and what would be your stargety in trying to win the match
?
I would want to wrestle Curt "Mr.Perfect" Henning.   I guess I would avoid the perfectplex and try and pull a roll up out of no where to sneak out a victory .

What can we expect from Ryan Wood in 2006?

More size, More Skills, More bookings, and More RED HOT!!!

Before we end this interview, I always give people the chance to add any comments for the fans and future opponents. What would you like to say to the fans and wrestling world?

Visit my site at www.freewebs.com/redhotryanwood A big update will be taking place in the next week or so with some major annoucements..... also .....Keep in mind That I am Red hot and you are not!!!
