Two for the Show
Week 2 [09.19.05] --
Cranville 60, Timbuktu 54
The Wolverines got their franchise's first win this week against a Buccaneer team that manhandled Wisconsin last week. This week however, the pirates' recievers stayed home from the plundering. S. Davis, who is tied for 2nd for most points by a RB this season, tried to carry the load for Timbuktu and got hurt in the process. It is not known at this time if the injury will limit his play next week against Hellespont.
Rocko 104, Hellespont 82
Rookie quarterback Carson Palmer exploded this week against Hellespont along with the whole passing attack. R. Ferguson, who was acquired on a draft day trade, saw his first starting action during the season and didn't disappoint the top brass. Another early rookie of the year canidate, Carnell "Cadillac" Williams of the Trojans, continued his impressive roll through PWFFL. Once again Trojan coaching cost them the game as they left 23 points on the bench at the reciever position. Rocko, with their 10 game winning streak, is on the verge of doing what only one other team franchise has ever been able to do, win 11 regular season games in a row. They will try to do that against that same franchise next week, the Kalamazoo Vikings.
Rhode Island 118, Helena 107
The Hobbits are out to prove that a rookie can make the playoffs. If Helena can keep up their current pace of putting up points, that is exactly what will happen. The Hobbits, despite their short stature lead the league in points scored. The Ridicule looked hot, despite massive questions regarding last year's league MVP who came out of the game with a giant goose egg.
Detroit 97, Wisconsin 43
Cheese-land is wondering what is up with their darling Wannabes. Despite sporting argueably the best running attack in the league, Wisconsin struggles in the air game have hanicapped them to being one of the worst teams in the league. Something needs to be done in order to get their air attack going or days in the sub 60s are bound to be normal for the Wannabes. Detroit was happy to get Wisconsin this week, as they needed a rebound after last week's surprise loss to W. Palm Beach. Griese looks to start week 3 against Cranville as starting QB Mike Vick left the Wisconsin game with a pulled hamstring. It is not known how long Vick will be sidelined, but this is getting to be a common sight for the Drive.
Seattle 100, Kalamazoo 81
Kalamazoo is used to having a zero in one of the win/loss columns, but not on the win side. Could this be the year in which the balance of the league is finally taken away from Kalamazoo? Seattle almost lost the game, but in the last 3 minutes of the game chucked up 2 long bombs to Santana Moss to clinch the victory away from Kalamazoo. The battle for first place will bound to take place in Seattle as Rhode Island comes to town with the winner taking home a 3-0 record.
Green Bay 81, W. Palm Beach 80
What a great game that these two played. While not a high scoring affair like Helena and Rhode Island, these guys put on a show that went down the wire much like Kalamazoo and Seattle. Green Bay came away with the victory in a rare event that the last place team defeats the first place team. This was played out in the air on both sides of the ball, as both running games were basically non-existant. Favre led the charge throwing the Driver and Roy Williams while Bledsoe and the aging M&M boys Mason and Muhammad tried to keep up. Stud rookie back W. Parker led all backs with an 11 points, but wasn't the difference maker in the game. The big question now is: Can Green Bay repeat the miracle victory over a hot rookie from Helena?
