Break for the Finish Week 15: After a shortened week 15 due to the Major League Baseball All-Star Break, there are only two weeks left in the regular season and there are still 10 teams in the hunt for the PWFBL's six playoff spots. Two teams in the thick of the playoff battle are the Michigan Twinkies and the Atlanta Force facing off this week. At the beginning of the season, this was one of the highlighted weeks for both teams, who's owners are never short of words. The Force came out on top in the shortened week 204-184, however Michigan did not make it easy on them come Sunday night. Atlanta came out, in no other words than, with full Force. Their hitting was on, and they had outstanding pitching early. "Big time players come out in big games," the Colonel stated all week, "It's amazing what one can accomplish when one tries. I have been waiting for this week ever since I showed Sideshow who his daddy was. Now, its time to gear up and win me a champ-e-on-ship, YEE HAW!"The press corp was shocked as they witnessed this grown man jump on his mechanical "penny" horse (the Atlanta Press room always must have one there after a win) and play "bucking bronco" while shouting in his Texas drawl. They followed up with questions regarding the lack of progress his other fantasy baseball properties (specifically in Diamond Wizard's Pennent Chase (DWPC)) have accomplished this season. Mr. Harper quickly pointed out that this is not the time nor the place to be talking about those teams. The Twinkies had a rough few days. The bats were cold and the pitching had a lot to be desired. Recent pick-up Jason Johnson was not able to make the trip to Atlanta and will instead start his first game against the Skunks in week 16. Sunday though was another story. The Twinkies started a rally led by Schilling and a hot Lieter, they burned up the 60 point lead that the Force had built on them the previous three days. Eighty points wasn't enough and now the Twinkies are left with a tougher road to the playoffs than they had imagined even a month prior. Atlanta travels to Chicago to complete their third game of the season next week. The Force believe they are the best team in the Pluto and feel snubbed that they have too sorry of a division record to challenge for the title. It will be an interesting finish to the season in the Pluto. Will this be the first time in PWFBL history that a division winner doesn't have the best overall record in the division?
