Smellin' Good

After a long history in Seattle of their baseball teams resembling the MLB's Detroit Tigers, the fans in the northwest finally have a team other than the PWFFL's Slimy Slugs to cheer for. The Skunks sit atop the fantasy point standings after three weeks battling both Rocko and Chicago for the top honor. Amazingly enough the Skunks also, with the 266-197 win over Hummels Wharf, sit alone atop the Mars Division with a 3-0 record.

The game wasn't always easy for the Skunks as they were battling the Braves for most of the week. The fact that going into Sunday's game, Hummels Wharf held a 18 point lead on the Skunks. However no one imagined the huge day that was going to transpire in Seattle. The Skunks blew the lid off the place with an amazing triple digit evening. The pitching staff had three outstanding outings from Pedro, Clement, and Thompson.

"It's amazing what great pitching will get you in today's PWFBL," Pitching Coach Pp stated after the game, "We have some great arms and you all saw them today, oui? To come back and make the final score look like a blowout, that's trs bien"
No comment could be reached from the Hummels Wharf locker room after the game, apparently owner Bob has instituted a gag order until after week 5. Rumor has it that the Braves's whole focus and planning has been dedicated toward destroying the Atlanta Force, so much so that the Coaching staff has not been allowed to properly prepare for the current opponants.
"We are not even allowed to even speak of our real opponants," stated one player on the Braves, who wished his identity to remain secret, "Mr. Pinter arrives before every game and reminds us that the Force is our real goal and that these games we must envision them all in Atlanta uniforms. After these two losses, he was really irate saying that there will be a team-wide punishment if we perform like we did this week against the Force (in week 5)."
The Braves only have one week left until their new rival comes into town in week 5. Next up on the plate, is another crack at division foe Dundee, who is the only team Hummels Wharf has been able to beat this year. The Skunks start the interdivision games facing off against Pluto leader, Chicago in a battle of unbeatens.

Rocko 228, Providence 167
The battle of undefeateds atop the Venus division was sure not to disappoint. After the first couple days, it looked as though Providence had this in hand but that is just when the Leopards decided to stop playing, and just finish off their prey. Rocko rattled off 5 days strait of winning by just about 10 points a day. The result cemented Rocko as being the early favorite to win the Venus division, with their 3-0 record. While the Leopard will face off against the Funky Monkies next week, Providence returns to Cranville to lick her wounds and to pick up another division "W" in week 4.

Chicago 187, Guam 184
In Chicago, they must come in and pay to see the close games because that is what they get week in and week out. The Cubsbartmen put on another close contest with many thinking that Guam was going to pull out the upset and beat the Pluto division winner, but that was not the case. Chicago's 10 extra points over Guam on Sunday was just enough to pull out the close victory over the Funky Monkies. This was the second straight last day loss for Guam, losing that near comeback last week against the Hustlers.

Michigan 195, Dundee 103
Dundee's slow start surprised many as they were projected by the experts to do well in their first year. However, the Mars division is not very forgiving especially to teams that end week 3 with the lowest cumlative point total for the season. The Twinkies rebounded strongly after their disappointing loss to the Skunks last week, as after the early games of the week, never allowed the Hillbillies back into the game. Michigan looks forward to week 4 as they faces another expansion team in the Hustlers. Dundee stays within the division, looking for their first win against Hummels Wharf.

Atlanta 230, Miami 121
What a difference a familiar face does to the psyche. Atlanta and Miami's owners have faced off many times before in a variety of leagues, which gave the Force the necessary edge to find their first victory in PWFBL. Atlanta's new strategy appears to bench all pitchers not named Hudson or Mulder. The Force had been crippled by the bad pitching earlier in the season and has been determined to stop the bleeding after all the critizism over their previous losses.

After a promising start, Miami has been having trouble putting together the "W" at the end of the week, despite usually posting solid fantasy point numbers. The Hustler look to bounce back off this disappointing division loss when they take on the defending champion, Michigan Twinkies in week 4. Atlanta faces off against his first female competator in Wisconsin's owner Sue. "I plan to show that I'm an equal opportunity ass-kicker"

Cranville 239, Wisconsin 209
The big story coming out of this game is the winless streak that will continue for the Wannabes. Wisconsin was looking confident early in the week that they'd be able to pull out their first victory over long-time friend Ang, owner of the Euchres, but the Wannabe's string of bad luck continues. Cranville nets their first win of the season and looks for this to propell them to the great things predicted of them in the preseason. With another crack at division foe, Providence coming in week 4, the Euchres look to get back to .500. Wisconsin has a tough opponant on their hands for week 4, as they take on the rejuvenated Atlanta Force.
