TRUCE: Peace Talks Reach Resolution

(Cyberspace, USA) The season long feud between the Hummels Wharf Braves owner (Pinter311) and Atlanta Force owner(cah1201) hit a head earlier in the season. Words were exchanged on the messageboard that heated the rivalry even further. On Sunday night, these two men sat down at the table with President Puck (Puck8268)and Vice-President Sue (suziesmilz)to write down the terms of a truce, for the good of the league. Not only did these two fantasy powerhouses come to a cease fire to the hatred spewing on the board, but ended up both coming to the understanding that the feud was baised on a giant misunderstanding.

Here is the transcript of the talks:

Pinter311: Okay....since we're all here, I think we can get down to brass tacks now
Puck8268: you have the floor bob..
Pinter311: Well, first of all, Chris, let me say I respect you for agreeing to this...you probably didn't know what this was going to be about but there are some things that I need to say...and I'm sure you do too
suziesmilz: so brian and i are here at innocent bystander witnesses?
Puck8268: yeah sue
cah1201: lets hope it stays innocent...
Pinter311: I think it will...
cah1201: ok then...lets hear it
Pinter311: Well, I think a few things have become pretty obvious over the course of this season...one, I don't like you, and you don't like me
Pinter311: Two...because of that, I have said some things that were very out of character for me...and I'll assume that you did the same
cah1201: am i allowed to interject at any point?
Pinter311: Give me a minute
cah1201: ok
Pinter311: Three...I have no intention of leaving this league because of you...it means a lot to me...and I'm going to assume that you don't want to leave either
Pinter311: Therefore...something needs to happen so that things don't blow over come playoff time...there is a pretty good chance that we could be playing each other, and part of me is genuinely looking forward to that...
Pinter311: Given the outcome of Week 5
cah1201: right...
Pinter311: Frankly, I don't know what we could come to here...a truce...or just agree to disagree...but I'd prefer if we could just keep it civil between us from here on out...out of a mutual respect for the league
Pinter311: and the efforts we both put into it
Pinter311: I guess I'm extending my hand here...and it's up to you to decide what to do...that's it, I've said my piece, and I want to hear what you think
cah1201: understandable...
cah1201: ok
cah1201: well heres my view....brian brought me in here to raise the competition...he told me shake things up-so thats what i did-you took things alot more personal than i thought anybody would...
cah1201: i didnt really appreciate the immediate personnel attacks...
cah1201: i have no problem with you...your a competitor, and a good one at that, exactly the type of guy i want to play against....
cah1201: i just assume wed get along and neither talk about each other behind their backs
cah1201: i just dont like this personal vendetta you seem to have against me...
cah1201: my mistake was doggin' the credibility of the league initially on the forum...
cah1201: i shouldnt of went that far-i know thats what pissed you off-but really i was just trying to drum up some support on brian's side for the challenge
cah1201: anybody here? lol
Puck8268: here..
Pinter311: I think they're just listening...I'll wait till your finished
cah1201: well...thats most of it...in an effort to stir things up like brian wanted-i probably went a little over the top...but the personal attacks from both sides sure didnt help our relationship
cah1201: i actually have enjoyed this league more than i thought i would...
Pinter311: You mind if I respond?
cah1201: not at all
Pinter311: Well, first of all, I understand and respect your position
Pinter311: You were asked to shake up the league...and you did just that...you certainly shook me up
cah1201: oh i noticed ;-)
Pinter311: The truth is, you didn't make a very good name for yourself from what I observed...you came off as a loudmouth and that's how I responded
Pinter311: That's why I didn't want to do the challenge...I didn't want to give you the satisfaction
Pinter311: I deal with people from all walks of life every day...and when someone gets up in my face like that, my first response is to put THEM back on THEIR heels like you put me back on mine
Pinter311: Don't get me wrong, I don't go around insulting people all the time...but you initiated a response in me that looking back was wrong and uncalled for
Pinter311: I don't want to turn this into a love-fest here or anything...because it's obvious that we both have a lot of pride...but you made an apology to me and so I'll do the same out of respect for you
suziesmilz: ok..i need to read all this...sorry..got really busy
cah1201: yeah...i didnt appreciate nor anticipate that kind of attack out of the gate
Pinter311: I'm sorry I reacted the way that I did...it wasn't good for you or the league
cah1201: i like to talk...but as brian can attest and you have noticed-i can usually back it up
Pinter311: And it wasn't indicative of me as a competitor nor as a person
Pinter311: I'm sure we simply both got the wrong idea of each other...and we needed to clear that up here and now
cah1201: sometimes that rubs people the wrong way...usually i just hear it back and its all good-but you sure took a different approach :-)
Pinter311: I don't really know how to respond to that, but here goes...
Pinter311: I take this league very personally...my peers named me owner of the year in just my second year in it...and I know how I started off...I kept my mouth shut and earned the respect of the other owners
cah1201: like i said...i dont have any problem with you as a person...
Pinter311: But when I saw someone who was in the position that I was once in, and NOT taking that same approach, I lost respect...I'm sure you can understand that
Pinter311: And so I took it personally
cah1201: i agree on the wrong idea of each other-i tried to say that too you earlier but you were still too mad to listen
cah1201: ah...i see now
Pinter311: I'm sure we're probably closer in mindset than we both realize...at least on some things...most of which are related to this league
cah1201: no doubt...its obvious you know alot about the game
Pinter311: And your track record speaks for itself
Pinter311: Or so I'm told
cah1201: i think another error i made was thinking this league was used to the smack...coming from 3 football leagues and my own baseball league-im used to the smack...
cah1201: but pwb obviously was a little more tranquil...
Pinter311: I think we're used to smack...if it's within reason...or maybe we're just not used to it on the level you brought to the table
cah1201: fair enough....if you compare the two forums-quite a contrast i think
Pinter311: I don't know the nature of your other leagues but I like to think we're a closer-knit group than most leagues that sign up people based on competition and not things outside of fantasy sports
Pinter311: I'm sure you see that in the football version
Puck8268: is that a knock on my dad?
Puck8268: lol
Pinter311: No....it could be a knock on anybody...we finished last season with the same record, remember
Puck8268: I know.. lol, you can crack on him all you want.. after what he's pulling in the Mock Draft..
Pinter311: But you made my point for me...I don't know many other leagues where ALL of the relationships are as close as this one
Pinter311: er, these ones
suziesmilz: totally.
Pinter311: I'll make one more point and then I think that'll be it for me...I can only talk for so long
Pinter311: Not to say I won't listen to anything else you need to say
cah1201: go ahead....i just wanted an opportunity to hear both sides
suziesmilz: i am in several other leagues..and i don't enjoy them anywhere near as much as i do anything pwfsi related
Pinter311: But the last thing I'll say is that I don't hold grudges with people I'm around...I can't...if someone makes me mad enough to hold a grudge against them, I'll eliminate them from my life
Pinter311: But if I'm in a situation where I have to be around people...whether it's work, my neighbors, or this league...I refuse to hold a grudge...I'd rather talk about the situation and come to some understanding
cah1201: understandable...
Pinter311: I'd rather make my point known and do my best to respect the other person's point...hell, listening to other people's points is what I do for a living
cah1201: im not one to hold grudges either...i dont have many people that dislike me-thats why i found it strange the way we started out
Pinter311: So...having listened to your side...and explaining mine to you...my conclusion is that the best thing for us to do is start over...because I'd like to forget about the things that cast each of us in a bad light for the other
cah1201: i dont have a problem with that...like i said-i respect you as a very good competitor- as long as you no longer mean those personal attacks....im ok
Pinter311: But ask Sue...when I get riled up, I like to yell...and I know I set myself up to get shit thrown back at me...but when all is said and done, it's just words...and I'd like to take that attitude with you if you're willing
cah1201: well brian can probably attest to this...but when people get riled up and set themselves up-im usually the guy that capitalizes :-)
cah1201: too me...its all in good fun and i think most people understand that
Pinter311: Well for me, this was an argument that went on far too long for me...I didn't want to say or do something that would jeopardize what people like Brian have worked hard to build up
suziesmilz: he does get riled good...bob and i had it out a while back..but we are cool.
Pinter311: It's tough arguing with someone for 16 weeks
cah1201: alot of the time i purposely talk to try to get people more involved in the league...

Although this was not the total end converstation, both later agreed to shake hands. The converstation was left on good terms and a lighthearted note. Many in the league should learn the lesson that these two learned this night. If you have a disagreement, maybe it is just something that can be simply worked out by sitting down at the table and talking about it.
