Computer Error Leads to Draft-Day Trade (DEERFIELD, WI) Computer technicians are trying to figure out what went wrong at the new corporate offices of the PWFBL's Hummels Wharf Braves. In the meantime, the Braves have announced the first trade of the season, in which they will swap #1 draft picks with the Cranville Euchres. The Braves will send Orlando Cabrera to the Euchres, and in return, will get an equally-confused Miguel Cabrera. Apparently, the team's computer system caused the Euchres to pick Miguel Cabrera with their #2 overall pick, instead of the intended Orlando Cabrera. Braves CEO Bob told reporters a power outage in Cranville sent Euchres owner Ang to Deerfield, WI, to draft from Bob's teams headquarters. Team officials hastily submitted Ang's information into their computers, and Bob attributes the mishap to human error. "Most likely, someone typed in Miguel when they meant to type in Orlando...I think," Bob said. "Maybe it was the other way around. In any case, it worked out okay."Bob agreed to select Orlando Cabrera with his 10th overall pick, and trade him to the Euchres at the end of the draft. "We're looking forward to having Miguel...it IS Miguel, right...? in a Braves uniform," Bob added. "Actually, I like the flexibility of having someone who can play outfield AND third base...or was it shortstop?"Both Cabreras are just as astounded about the mix-up. "I was very happy to be picked #2 overall," Miguel said through an interpreter. In what proved to be the most symbolic gesture of the night, the two simply ripped the logos off of their original uniforms and swapped them at the end of the first round.
"I mean, hell, they both said 'Cabrera', right?" Bob grinned.
